Who do you want right now at pick #21?

An Ohio State linebacker does not an Andy Katzenmoyer make.

Hawk is not the ultimate moron, nor does he have Katzenmoyer's lingering neck problems.

Is a refund possible? Or even a store credit? Hell, I'd take a simple apology from Dennis Green
Unfortunately not . . . but think how much worse it would be if we still owed a #3 . . . talk about salt in the wound.

yeah..if that was the case and on draft day I heard (the cardinals select so and so with the Patriots pick they exchanged for Duane Starks) I would have thrown up in my mouth. Hmm.. I wonder who the Cards got with said pick...

Hawk won't even be the best pro out of that bunch though, Bobby Carpenter will be, all things being equal. Wouldn't surprise me if the Pats drafted him either, as he has similar measurables to Vrabel, to go along with good instincts, inside/outside versatility and college production.

They took Darryl Blackstock, LB Virginia with the 31st pick of the 3rd round . . . that's probably it although I don't know why it wasn't 32nd. Maybe some team lost a pick for salary cap violations or something.

From what I hear, he's not the sharpest knife in the drawer. And I think much of his production is from being surrounded by great players. He doesn't impress me much.

My prediction is that BB/Pioli will package some picks and move up to get an impact player. We aren't that bad, they know what they've got and what they need.

Denver forfeited their pick due to salary cap violations back in the day.

Not a big Carpenter fan either. I like the idea of trading up, but this is a deep draft so no point in selling the farm unless it is a player that is really worth it. I think the real question is what position do we need an impact player at most?

I actuallt think we should make alot of picks to build solid depth that we failed at w/ Klecko,Reid, G. Scott, M. Hill, C. Cobbs. etc.

There is plenty of room on this team for some talented rookies to grow. Plus we have alot of needs IMO that can be filled for a long time with a great draft. I say pick em' all.

Well we have 9 draft picks so we can fill plenty of needs. We do need a lot more depth. I hope Marquise Hill and Guss Scott don't turn out to be failed experiments, but you are probably right. Any idea if we could get any compensation picks?

Maybe a fourth for Druzzi but not likely anything for Patten.

I lwould like to go RB in the 1st round as I don't care what anyone says Dillion will be very average and not pose much of a threat from the RB position next year. We could then use our 2nd round pick and grab Ko Simpson, Safety, from USC. He is an animal, an awesome athlete who can stuff the run and play great coverage to. If USC's defense was better this year he would probably be a 1st rounder....We can then use our 2 3rd round picks and go LB and CB.......

1st Round Lendale White, RB from USC
2nd Round Kai Parham, ILB from Virginia
3rd Round Richard Marshall, CB from Fresno State
3rd Round Donte Whitner, SS from Ohio State

All good players but I am guessing they would all have to slide a little bit to be there for our picks. Not necessarily the player I want, but the one I am beginning to wonder if we pick is Derek Hagan of Arizona State. He kind of reminds me of Givens.

I want DeMeco or TAMBA. Mostly because Tamba is hungry...He would make a good elephant for us I think, but im pretty sure we are not going to draft him. I just have one of those feelings, like last year, I knew we werent going to draft LB in the first...

If we dont draft LB, I would like to see a safety like Landry, Huff, or Bing.

There's one thing we can be pretty confident about: the Pats will pick a player who will contribute (assuming he stays healthy). Look at their first- and second-round picks the last five years:

2001 Richard Seymour
2001 Matt Light
2002 Daniel Graham
2002 Deion Branch
2003 Ty Warren
2003 Eugene Wilson
2003 Bethel Johnson
2004 Vince Wilfork
2004 Ben Watson
2005 Logan Mankins

Given that Bethel Johnson is the worst pick the Pats have had in those two rounds in five years, I think they've earned our trust.

I think we'll have to wait to see what happens with Givens.
If we lose him, wr becomes a need..not just a position to
improve depth. My hunch he leaves. I just don't like any
of the wr's at 21. If we go rb at 21. L.White is getting all
of the pub. But L.Maroney from Minnesota is very good. I just
think you can get decent backs later. This thread is ridiculous
because we'll probably trade down..LOL...I say we trade down
with Detroit for their 2nd round pick this year. And one next
year. They'll want a qb and can't get Leinart or Young.

It is really hard to predict where to go in the draft prior to free agent signings/departures/salary cap casualties.

Right now there are potential needs at:

RB - 2 years of no back-up has killed us. Even if Corey returns to form (big if) they need someone behind him who can carry the ball if he is out.

WR - Deion is the only guy right now who is a lock to be back. Givens, Brown, Dwight, Davis, and Bethel are all questions for one reason or another.

DL - Not a big need but depth is a concern - Klecko, Wright, and Hill did not contribute.

LB - Great group but starting to age.

CB - Not sure this is a draft need. A vet to go with Ellis and Asante would be what I prefer.

S - With Rodney a question this is a must fill hole one way or another.

None of the holes are the glaring variety really anwhere but with the exception of QB and TE and to a lesser extent OL I think we have spots for whoever the best players on the board are when we pick. By the time the draft comes, my guess is we will have filled some of them.

I'm a huge fan of Ko Simpson and I would actually use our 1st round pick on him, Ko is the guy I want. He is an animal and he has great instincts in addition to his speed, etc. I also like Abdul Hodge alot even though I think he may be gone. I would take a chance on Cromartie but I don't know about spending a 1st on him; I remember being amazed by him a couple of years back - his combination of size and speed is extremely rare at the CB position and he has the potential to be a stud. I think we will find out more about his recovery from surgery at the combine. I like Bobby Carpenter too, as well as LaRon Landry. I would be quite happy with any of those guys and hopefully some of them will be available to us. I think RB should be addressed at some point, but the more pressing needs seem to be safety and LB. This team is only one or two players away (when healthy) from being the SB favorite for next season (assuming givens, stephen neal, etc. are re-signed - and Big Sey for long term). BB/Pioli will do what needs to be done, so I'll be excited no matter who they draft.
