I think the title says it all, but lets hear it, what are you hoping to see coming out of this first preaseason game. For me it is:

Pierre Woods-I would love to see him dominate when he is going up against the Bucs 2nd team offense.

LT battle-It would be interesting to see who starts with the 1's and how all 3 will play knowing the postion is up for grabs.

Brandon Merriweather-I cannot wait to see how he looks out there and how well he can play the corner position.

RB Situation-Will Maroney play, and after him, who is going to take the bulk of the carries. Can Morris elevate his game and recover from a poor pre season so far.

The Young LB's-After the known starters, who is going to be playing and how can they perform. Lua, Rogers, Mays, just to name a few.

You can't fool me, midwestpatsfan, I know you're wanting to see if your Cyclone Hobbs has taken the next step up

You nailed them for me, though Maroney almost certainly won't play.

Merriweather.
Woods.
(would be Moss but he won't play IMO).
Cassel also, I want a good performance this offseason for all teams to see.

Put me down for Pierre Woods....people forget that this guy HAS talent. He was was predicted (his junior year...I think) to be a Butkus Award finalist before getting hurt. He just needed some good coaching...and apparently has gotten it.

I doubt Maroney plays a down Friday, or any other preseason game.

I didn't want to jinx my boy, but it would be sweet to see my boy from Cyclone country rip it up this year.

1. First play from scrimmage - play action to whoever is in the backfield then a Brady Bomb to (hopefully one of Moss or Stallworth - more than likely Stallworth becasue of the 'hammy' thing with Moss) a WR blasting down the right sideline.

2. How Welker will torch the underneath routes

3. The new zone blocking of the OL

4. Agreed, all starters walking off of the field at the end of the game.

I will watch the rotation at RT and how the CBs perform. Mostly I am just looking forward to seeing some football.

Tonight I set my DVR! I can't wait.

Oh man, everyone has already said Pierre Woods! Does this mean the pro shop might actually start carrying #58 jerseys?

VERY curious about Meriweather, of course, but Matt Cassel is my #1 target. Heading into his third year with an offseason workout award in his pocket, I expected better than he's shown at camp so far. The physical ability is all there, it's the mental game that's starting to worry me (and I'm a veteran of the Cassel bandwagon.) Time to put it all together, Matt!

I thougt Morris was doing well with the Patriots, so far? Do you mean in past preseason games he hasn't done well?

I think Hobbs has arrived. he just got the short end of the stick on calls much like Asante did when the Pats got knocked out by the Broncos.

I can't wait to see BM's speed, quickness, recovery speed and how much he has grasped of the defense which expects to be very vanilla. I am curious if he will see time as corner which I expect but how much will they shift him to safety?

I think everyone is dead on with Pierre Woods as he's been hyped up but in reality I don't expect much production out of him until next year.

I look forward to seeing how much chemistry Brady has develloped with Welker in their limited play Friday.

And down the road I like to see how much Josh McDaniels has grown and what kind of offense will this team be this year?? Have they finally moved away from forcing the power run and come to the realization that they are more of a 3 wr set team?

Morris has had trouble picking up the blitz in 3rd down.

Yes, that is true, but from what I remember he's looked good in every other phaze of the game. The person I was quoting made it sound like he's been struggling.

"Aside from that Mrs. Lincoln, how was the play?"

Seeing as the blitz is coming at Brady I'd rank that pretty high - but overall you're right, things like that in the first few weeks of camp are nothing to be overly concerned about - one week before the regular season, yes, but not now.

And as you noted, Morris, while will possibly be a routine 3rd round substition will likely contribute in more situations than that.

Although I don't expect much in the 1st pre-season game, goal line situations are my current area of interest.

Who will BB give reps in situations where we might want to pound the ball in on the ground. No doubt having a 6'4" WR is a nice thing on the goal line, but BB is conservative at heart, and keeping the ball out of the air to avoid INTs in the endzone is Football 101.

So the question of who we see running the ball at the goal line is the thing I'll be looking for.

I've been reading that Sammy Morris is poor in pass protection and his hands have been iffy. Not good. As for who/what I want to see...

Meriweather.

Woods.

Some passing game fireworks.

NO INJURIES.

My wife's birthday is on Friday and I gather that dinner out does not mean a sports bar, so mostly I'm looking for my DVR to work. And of course, no injuries.

Though I did read a report where Morris struggled in camp with blitz pick-up and dump-off passes, I've also heard that he was good at that in Miami, which is why Ronnie Brown didn't play on 3rd down. So that's one thing I'll be looking for.

But yes, like Patchick, I'll be most focused on Cassel, especially how well he feels the rush and moves in the pocket to avoid sacks and keep the play alive. I think that's been his weakness. That, and forcing throws when he's under pressure. I'm looking for that Brady ice-water in the veins.

On Woods, some bloggers have suggested he'll be a part of the regular season rotation at OLB. If we see him either dominating a 2nd team tackle, or looking good against a 1st team tackle, then that bodes well for this year as well as next. Just because TBC took forever to get on the field, doesn't mean Woods will take as long.

Wouldn't mind seeing someone step up as a backup to Vince. Would like to see if Brown is all that at DE. Would like to see how Elgin does.

Not worried about Meriweather except that he stays healthy. Would rather not see Maroney just yet.

Oscar Lua

James Sanders

Brandon Merriwether

Eugene Wilson

Matt Guttierez

these are the ones I'll be looking for...

AD because I've wanted to see the guy in a Pats uniform since Week 2 of last season.

Meriweather: can he start at cb?
Woods: Can he become a starter in '08?
Britt: Can he start at RT?
Eugene Wilson: can he still cover the slot?
Rodney: agile and active, or a late arrival to the pile?
Light: Will his great performance in the playoffs carry over?
Cassell: pocket presence?
Watson: has he improved his hands?
Mike Wright: does he have starting potential, if so could that impact future negotiations with Warren?
Bruschi: better than last season, or worse?
AD: does he line up at ILB or OLB?
Tory James: real depth, or is he done?

Gaffney vs. Caldwell vs. Washington

How the LBer's play together and where they play.

The secondary.

The RT position.

I think these are pretty self explanatory, although I will have to rely on you guys to know any of this. I NEED NFLN!!!!
