When we wait a week and sign Britt (or whomever) to take a tackle spot, will it be Connolly or Ohrnberger who goes? Apologies in advance if Connolly no longer qualifies for the practice squad.

When Simmons is ready to play, then both Connolly and Wendell can be cut. I'd put them both on the Practice squad. Connolly is a prospect at center. Wendell is a prospect at guard. Both can play this year at those positions if they were called upon. If Simmons isn't ready we need to have both Wendell and Connolly on the active roster as backups.

So, when Simmons is healthy, we can cut both Connolly and Wendell and sign Britt. We would then have the normal 9 OL's and have an extra position available, presumably for a backup quarterback.

No one, but we don't need six guards on the squad. We usually carry four guards, with one of the four capable of also backing up at center.

Who says a OG is getting cut?

probably Connolly- that'd be my guess.

anyone we cut still has to clear waivers to make p.s.?

yes. The only real effect is that the player could choose someone else's Practice Squad.

Even when a player is on the Practice Squad, any team can offer a player a roster spot with the patriots having no rights or compensation.

Most people, including me, didn't think Connolly would make the team. So there's my vote.
