What's with the spread?

Well like I said earlier if you bet Pats vs Falcons the day before the AFC and NFC championships were played you would have been unhappy because the Pats were -7 point favs over Atlanta and -7.5 favorites over GB. After the championships games were played the spread went to do -3. Your telling me that Vegas changed its mind over 1 game against an extremely injured GB team? Well hopefully if you put down money on the Pats you waited now you can takem at -3.

I would bet but I tried using my debit card on Bovada's website and my bank is blocking the transaction.. I guess I have to purchase Bit coins (crypto currency) in order to put money into a Sports Betting Las Vegas account. Seems like a major pain in the ass and I don't like how crypto currency can fluctuate.. so no betting for me unless someone wants to tell me a website or a suggestion. You can always PM me if you know a website I can use to throw some money down. Its just for fun, I never really bet.
Injuries are part of the game. Did leveon bell get injured?

That's some spread, huh?

They are trying to play safe with some earlier bets in the year put on Atlanta. Atlanta had something like a 50:1 or so pay out at times during the year and money was put on it. Also They were bet on as a dark horse a fair amount with good odds and not many people took the Patriots to win it all at any point cause it was low reward for the risk.

Now that we are down to the last game they probably want to be sure enough is on the Pats that if the Falcons do win it doesn't bury them.

I agree, this is what I meant when I said there is basically "hidden" money on Atlanta from earlier in the year.

Find a sneaker store in town that has 13 year old dusty sneakers in the window, or a typewriter retailer, sandwich shop that is dead all week then picks up on Tuesday and the weekends. You know, that kind of business. Ask the old guys in the back. Or, the old fashion way just go to the townie dives and look for the guy everyone is giving envelopes to on Tuesday.

the talk I am hearing from contacts in Vegas is the Falcons are gonna win this game and pretty big, too

I hate saying it, but i've heard something similar from a shark I know.

Vegas likes Atlanta to win big.

Unless the game is literally fixed, I don't give a damn what "Vegas" thinks or wants.

Same here. I hope to god their bad season continues (sports books took a bath on the NFL this season).

Somebody call up BB/TB & Co. and tell them to just head back to foxboro. Sharks think they're going to lose = it's ovah

The Patriots have covered the spread all but 3 games this year. I'm not super confident (being a natural pessimist) but I would be nervous if I were a bookie right now with 66% of the money on the Patriots.

Thought this BSpn story was relevant enough to post the link.

The action was so evenly distributed that several books said the worst-case scenario would be New England winning 31-28, which would cause the spread and the total to result in a push.

Super wager: $1.1M bet made on 'dog Falcons

The thinking as I heard it, is that people are over estimating our experience and under estimating how battle tested Atlanta is.

He scares me a little, because he is a true high roller.

But again. In the end, the game will be decided on the field. Regardless of what the books think.

Even Vegas with there MIT grads predicting algorithms and matching up the game and how it will play out.. there is no way to predict a winner in a 1 game playoff game.

Regardless of Vegas, I do find it strange that so many people think the Patriots will win big because I have absolutely no idea what to expect. The Patriots haven't faced a QB (The league MVP) and an offense this dynamic all year long. Everyone points to Atlanta's defense but since there bye week are holding teams to 19/20 points a game.

I can easily see the Patriots stalling on there first drive and seeing the falcons take a 14-0 lead.. and then its on. I think the Pats will score 21 straight points.. but the Falcons don't go away and score 10 points going up 24-21 at the end of the 3rd quarter. From there I don't know what happens all my guy tells me is that this is going to be a good game. The game will be in doubt entering the 4th quarter I cam feel it. So for all of those people looking for a blow out I think **** out of luck.

Falcons had 150 to 1 odds to win Super Bowl at start of season

Don't know why they would consider Atlanta to be battle tested. But I know you're just repeating it not saying it. Seattle and GB are big names in the playoffs but not top teams right now.

Eww! You're on to something!

Yea, I have no clue. That first 1.1m bet that just got placed has me considering if I should start drinking now. lol

Be on the look out for a few more late high stake bets on Atlanta. Same thing happened with the Giants in '07. The big money poured Sat/Sun.
