What position do the Jets draft now in light of signings?

I'm not sure the existing rules still apply. Obviously Belichick isn't going to flush decades of scheme development down the crapper. But maybe it can be tweaked a little to allow for a guy like Gholston to succeed.

I just do not see BB making changes to accomodate a rookie. I could see it for a stud vet, but why draft someone who forces you to go against your philosophy when you can just draft someone else? This is the round peg in square hole draft philosophy that I think BB is dead set against.

They have a left tackle already and now they have two new guards.

They have a new d-tackle but do they draft another?

They have a new guard and a new tackle. Woody LOST the starting guard position at Detroit, so they tried him at right tackle for 6 games, and he did OK, and that's what the Jets are banking on with their multi millions.

They have two d-tackles, and now they are in a buyers' market on Robinson, and unless someone lets them off the hook, are in trouble there.

I totally agree with you. Who would it be then?

If the peg flew around like tiger and hit like a cement truck, I would at least be tempted. Guess it would depend if it was more like this:

or like this:

Maybe they will trade for a decent coach.

I think Dallas is going to make a deal with Atlanta to secure McFadden - It will have to be a crazy lucrative Jerry Jones offer - especially if Ryan is still in there and the Falcons need a QB.

I want Gohlston for the Pats, but I feel that Eric will take him based on our/his apparent needs.

But we arent talking about Lawrence Taylor or Reggie White here.
Gholston is a good player, but he is not the next great dominant defensive player in the NFL.
There are tons of players in the draft with great skills.
My point is I don't think BBs philosophy is to try to figure out how to make a player fit his system, as if he is the only choice. He is finding the player that fits what he wants, not deciding what he wants based on who everyone else says is really good.

Gholston is getting a lot of press. Your approach seems to be that he must be soooo good that we cant live without him, his talent is so great that we need to build a team around him, even if it conflicts with everything we have ever done to build the team. I think the opposite is true. At #7 in the draft there may be 7 different players who would be selected depending upon who is using the pick, and what their system is. That doesnt mean everyone needs to take Gholston because he is the 7th best player if you run a Tampa D defense.

I would like it to be a corner, and in a perfect world, we get the corner somewhere between 15 and 25 after trading down and picking up another 2 or a 1 next year.
