What BB told Patterson

Let’s hope it works out for the Patriots. His comments seems to suggest that he is immature and full of himself.

H

However we traded for him we didnt need to sell him to the Pats.
Sounds like me Bill and Josh believe they can get more out of him.

That is true for any player they trade for. We will see if he becomes a factor or just another Marsh.

If he can stand out on two special teams units (maybe KR and PR, or KR and Gunner), he'll earn a spot on the team and be worth it.

If he can also contribute on offense in specific packages, chipping in a couple hundred all purpose yards there on end arounds, screens, and the occasional deep pattern to keep the D honest, it will be a bonus.

If he becomes a regular offensive weapon and Josh/BB can turn him into the receiver people hoped he'd be out of college, it will be an awesome miracle.

I like Patterson. I know people here are skeptical, but his last year in Minnesota (2016), he had 53 catches (his best year). AND I believe he’s only 27. So if he can catch 30-40, some ends around, and be a great kick returner, he’ll be worth the risk.

I don't think that Patterson has much to prove. I certainly hope that he improves here. However, his past is just fine. His 2 catches a game is more than our 4th and 5th WR's total. And his 10 yards a reception is fine.

Sure, Patterson has to learn our offense, and sure he may or may not be a significant part of the offense.

BOTTOM LINE
Patterson is the best KR in the NFL.
Patterson is at least an OK gunner.
Patterson has the stats of a #3 WR, certainly enough for our game active #4.

If folks want to consider Patterson a role player, only occasionally contributing as a receiver, that's fine. Also, that (along with his ST skills) is enough to expect him to be on the 53.

patterson plays hard, at least he did in the videos i watched. i like it.
