Pop is your man coverage beater and I read something about teams playing zone like 70% of the time because they are worried about Maye running. That's why I am not worried about him and his slow first two weeks just yet. Pitt plays a ton of man coverage so I expect him to have that 9 catch 70 yard game we are all waiting on. If he doesn't then I'll start to question why. He has been too productive on crap teams to be this bad on a decent one.

On the last few years of crap Pats teams, it was a lot of schoolyard undisciplined offense. Now the offense is a more disciplined approach with routes and adjustments. Pop does not do well, for whatever reason, in a more defined disciplined plan. I do not expect Pop to do well today either, even though the Steelers play more man coverage, but I could be wrong. We will see.

Remember zone is not a iron clad Defense: good Offensive Players often times exploit it. Pop has yet to find the soft spot not good. Welker - Edelman and Amendola had no such problems.

Agree totally if he comes up empty again Today: Patriots we have a Pop Douglas problem. That said really hoping Diggs have a 100yds game real soon. Diggs can play all over the field.

He has the physical tools to get himself open and make plays with the ball in his hands. So if he has that you’d kind of question whether the issue is upstairs. Maybe he doesn’t get it with Josh’s offense.

Then again you have the positive TC reports and people watching film have said he has gotten open the first two weeks. It could simply be that Maye trusts several other guys more than Douglas. He clearly prefers going to Boutte, Diggs, Hunter Henry over Pop.

Let’s see what happens today.

You forgot Tarzan Mack Hollins.

Pop has not learned the slot in Y3. Now you want Pop to learn the double slot too? LOL
Pop had 66 catches last year.. and 49 the year before.. he's a player that's steadily improved. So you're right we have too many good players at wr let's just cut him. We don't need pop..

Get ready to hear about Tomlin never having a losing season.
You're the first to bring it up.

It's definitely a positive accomplishment though. Especially for a guy who's been around for so many years.

Clearly Vrabel and the coaching staff felt Hawkins and Woodson fit better at the safety positions than Peppers and Dugger.. personally IMO Peppers likely saw what was going on with Dugger and felt his time would be limited and asked for his release.

It’s pretty evident Peppers did not ask for his release given the social media commentary he made.

One thing I noticed is that I’m pretty sure the five guys on the OL have all played 100% of the snaps through two games. We all heard so much last year about building continuity, seems like the Pats agree. Even despite his foot issue, they haven’t rotated Moses out at all. Good for long term chemistry, and credit to him for battling through.

Ole friend Matt Sokol continues with his most unlikely professional career, being signed to the Steelers practice squad. He was a cut out of Buffalo's camp this summer.

In college his TE yardage was pitiful, though he was an able blocker.

But he opened eyes at the MSU pro day with his ideal size and athleticism.

If you read peppers comments.. " I'm happy coach Tomlin made the call.. he's definitely a coach that i wanted to play for before I retired"... that signals he knows he wasn't long for NE. Peppers was of my favorite players here.. loved his game and his attitude. IMO he saw the writings on the wall with Dugger specifically and knew he wasn't in the long term plans of the team.. So he and Vrabel likely talked and felt it was best to mutually part ways now.

Absolutely agree Ross. The OL has been pretty good through 2 games. Have to definitely give them credit. Moses has battled through injuries his whole career he's a tough player.

The goal is to win World Championships.

Tomlin has had teams good enough to at least get to the Super Bowl, but through his incompetence squandered so many opportunities.
