First timer wanting to go to training camp this pre season. Do you need to purchase tickets or is it open to the public?

I am thinking of going on the first scheduled day - July 27th. If practice begins at 9am, what time should we be there to grab a decent spot to see the action?

What can I expect? Is it worth it?

Parking?

Can you bring water? Food?

Thanks!

get there by 6am at the latest if you want to get a seat...and once in said seat plan on not getting up or else it'll be gone

There are no tickets sold, and parking is free as well.

The first open practice is going to be the most highly attended practice of training camp. I would suggest a different date.

Gates open one hour prior to the start of practice. The earlier you get there the better the seat you will be able to grab.

You can bring water but no alcohol, no coolers, and no video cameras.

Wear a hat. Hydrate. Put on plenty of sunscreen.

I think it's well worth it. Especially when the pads are on. FYI the first 2 days are required to be without pads (ramp up period) so you might want to go day 3.

Bottom line is you get a great close up look at the players.

FWIW, if you go solo you can usually find seats without having to go early as people watch for awhile then leave. But don't plan on sitting with a friend if you do this as finding 2+ spots will tough. Also if you're driving far I don't suggest this as every once in awhile this doesn't work out.

I'm 5 miles from the stadium and have been going for years I don't have the patience to go early anymore plus the last half of Practice is the best as they start out with individual drills then go to 7 on 7 and finish 11 on 11.

As I'm retired, I love trading camp, more specifically, the joint practices which I think this year is with the Jags. Everything is free! Parking, entrance, even the programs! I agree though with other posters; brings lots of sunscreen.

Great responses. They're on target.

Bring binoculars and make sure you get a complimentary roster of all of the players and numbers published by "Pats Football Weekly" before you find a seat..

Lots of area you need to watch as there is stuff going on over 2 fields.. ..

If it is sweltering hot might want to avoid the bleachers as it sometimes is like sitting in a frying pan... hydrate, hydrate, hydrate.

I use to go to TC all the time...but idk what changed..just would rather sit inside during reg season than waste gas for practice even though everything is free.
