- We're only seeing what the camera is allowing us to see, but it appears that Nick Caserio is in charge of the trade, not Bill Belichick. Obviously that's not the case, but BB seems to have complete confidence in Caserio handling the situation and his decision making.
- 'Bill's on the phone with another team right now'
- No pressure, no stress; the scene was extremely calm
So who is this "George" Caserio has talked to about 229? What am I missing?
I've read a lot of your posts over the years. I know you're a smart person. You're right about the calm in the room and the misdirection (he's "on the phone"), but you're wrong about the roles.
I've never been in an NFL Draft Room, but I've been in the room when some high value deals were done. the guy on the phone is the messenger, unless there is a principal on the other end of the line. in this case, I'd bet the mortgage that Caserio was talking to his counterpart on the other side, not to the counterparts of Belichick or Kraft.
the clip starts after the decision is made. Belichick and the Krafts are clearly the principals here and Caserio is the errand person (that doesn't mean he isn't a highly paid and well-respected errand person...but he is still the errand person...the guy on the phone might be making seven figures plus, but he's still working for someone else).

but they really are so calm in such a tense situation...it's amazing
