Ventrone = "vested veteran"?

Someone posted a link to scout.com's "Transaction blog" [available here]. It contained this tidbit:

Ventrone, according to a league source, is a vested veteran, so he's not subject to waivers.

Seeing as Lewis might be brought back later, is it possible that they might do likewise with Ventrone?

Good find. Maybe he could come back, but they apparently wanted Lockett more for some reason.

That "reason" could just be screwing with Ratgini.

In any case, I'm thinking they'd bring him back after Week 1, when his salary wouldn't be guaranteed if they needed to cut him.

BTW, Lewis was signed for three years. That value is now gone. Lockett must be a solid STer.

I am not sure that is accurate. Players with under 4 accrued seasons are subject to waivers; Ventrone does not have 4 accrued seasons (did not accrue in 2005).

Well, apparently nobody's claimed him, because we'd've heard about it by now, so he's, for the moment at least, a UFA.
