I was personally shocked that the line opened at 2.5 - 3. It has now been moved all the way to 6 with over 80% of the betting coming in on Carolina. I was thinking the line would be 5 or 6 at the open.

Vegas also takes a lot of higher margin prop bets, but if Carolina wins this game by a lot, it's going to be a huge loss for the books. The only other game like this was our favorite game, SB42. The line opened at 14 and then moved all the way to about 8 by kickoff...so while SB42 was considered a huge upset, the public clearly thought the game would be competitive. Vegas took a beating in that game, and it's the only time they've ever lost money on a SB.

Wow. I guess I should have waited. My bookies lines went from -4.5 to -6.0 already. Crazy The sharps will let the public do their thing then hammer Denver next Sunday.
