I didn't catch the entire interview but it was funny because as I tuned in I knew that I knew the voice but just couldn't place it.

He was telling them that the Patriots should just suck it up and pay everybody what they wanted to make an amazing run the next few years. And if they made some mistakes and over paid some guys oh well they could cut them later.

So I'm thinking who is this clown he is completely clueless.

The EEI guys then say well look at the guys the Pats have let go because they were passed their prime and not worth the money they wanted like Law, Milloy and Mcginist. And others like Woody and Branch who still just wanted too much.

So he does a complete 180 and says well that's the trick in a violent sport like football, to not let your team get too old and to make those tough decisions but I still think they should just pay everybody this time around. Ok which is it Mr. Wishy-Washy?

Finally somebody on EEI says well Upton with a cap you cannot sell out like that.

I exploded laughing in my car thinking of course it's Upton. Thank god he's not in charge anymore or we would be the Dolphins still.

And that's why "Uppy" was better on the radio. He was far more entertaining when he didn't have a team to manage. I got a lot of laughs from him back in the day!

He comes from football royalty, as his father Bert co-founded the Eagles, co-owned the Steelers and was NFL commissioner until his death in 1959. Quite a resume that was so impressive, it got Upton an important job for awhile.

Upton Bell

As a young boy, I first started listening to talk radio with WBZ's Calling All Sports with Upton Bell and Bob Lobel. Good grief. Late 1970s I recall.

Then I graduated later on to Gene Burns, David Brudnoy, and now Dennis Prager and Hugh Hewitt.

Upton Bell had a talk radio show on a Worcester station that my grandmother used to listen to. Very annoying.

Re: Upton Bell

I remember Bell from '70s radio. I heard part of the interview. Bell claimed that the 72 Phins had a harder time "because the Pats played a weak AFCE this season." If Bell had any numerical ability he'd know that the winning % of the Phins opponents was far lower thus negating his point. He's such a doofus. His only claim to fame was his ancestry; knew nothing then and less now. How far we've come!
