Patriots Sign Big, Athletic Pass Rusher Ufomba Kamalu To Practice Squad

Definitely sounds big and athletic:

“Kamalu played outside linebacker with the Texans at 6-foot-6, 295 pounds. He was able to do that because of his elite athleticism for his size. Kamalu ran a 4.88-second 40-yard dash at his pro day while coming out of Miami in 2016. He posted a 31.5-inch vertical leap, 8-foot, 10-inch broad jump, 7.32-second 3-cone drill and 4.58-second short shuttle with 26 bench press reps of 225 pounds during the pre-draft process.”

And can't land on a active NFL roster?? Color me not impressed.

Well, he's played in 13 regular season games, so he's ahead of most practice squad players.

Will Tye had played in 32 regular season games before being signed to the Pats' PS. That might be the record.

On paper it looks and sounds good, but not much info on him regarding in game performance...

Ufomba Kamalu (6051/295, age 25 as of Nov 2nd). Typical size for a 3-4 DE/or 4-3 DT, comparable to Lawrence Guy or JJ Watt. Slightly more athletic than Guy; slightly less athletic than Watt.

Pre-draft measureables:
... 4.88/40, 1.65/10yd .. 26 reps .. 31.5 vert/106" lj .. 4.58 shuttle/7.36 3cone

Signed as a UDFA by Texans out of Univ. of Miami in 2016. Waived to HOU PSquad at end of 2016 Camp. Promoted around Thanksgiving 2016. Appeared in 4 games, recorded 5 tackles and a sack in 89 total snaps.

Appeared in 9 games for HOU in 2017 (beginning after a rash of injuries beset the HOU DL). Recorded 6 tackles, 2 sacks and 3 QBH in 184 D-snaps.

Waived in 2018 cutdowns. Signed to ARZ PSquad at the end of Sept 2018. Waived on Oct 30th.

Can he play RT if Cannon gets hurt again?

Bill's now recruiting....

...from the University of Wakanda. :)

Hope he sticks around just so I can keep hearing that name!
Agreed. His first name especially, it's like a combo of UFO and bomb.
