Two Key Players No One Is Talking About

How many WRs are they going to carry? 6? With maybe 2-3 on the PS?

Locks
Polk
Baker
Bourne
Pop
KJ

Left to battle:
Boutte
Boney T
Reagor
JuJu
TJ Luther
Kawaan Baker

Obviously, the rookies (Baker and Polk) will have to battle as well, but IMO, they won't cut them year 1. I don't see how Boney T makes the roster, unless he's Bourne Again (pun intended) in year three. It's certainly possible that one of the guys on my battle list blossom without Bill's superior WR development. @Real fan 02 how's that for optimism ?

I like it. I think that's a very accurate picture. There is no inclination that juju or TT will do anything of note to warrant a spot. For juju he may bot even be healthy enough to make it through camp. Polk & baker feel like real difference makers to me. Also don't forget Gibson also will line up at WR on some formations.

I don't know why we're so eager to cut someone, when camp and competition will sort it out. There's almost always camp and preseason injuries, there are also camp surprises.

If Thornton just clicks in year three, if the line blocks well and they have a QB now who knows how to throw the deep ball... this could make cutting him impossible, and why would you want to? Can we not use a 6'2" tall WR who also happens to be the fastest guy in the league?

The absolute best outcome possible is Douglas in the slot, Thorton stretching the field on the outside and one of the rookies on the other side... that would be maximizing the athleticism in that WR room.

I'm rooting for Thornton to stay healthy and get his act together, that's the best thing that could happen. To hell with cutting him.

I like your optimistic attitude. But fact is on TT it's all on him. He's going to have to be the the guy who shows something. It's great it he finally gets it. That will give this offense another deep threat. Time waits for no one.

I don't think anyone is getting cut today, specifically Thornton.
come end of August he will perhaps be cut simply because he again is injured, can't run routes, has poor hands, does not play ST.
his spot may come down to Bournes health and if the team can find a home for JuJu.
locks-Osborn, Bourne, Pop, Polk, Baker
on the fence-TT, Reagor
gone if everyone is healthy-JuJu, Boutte

Thornton's failure hasn't been his alone, WR's, especially deep ball WR's rely heavily on offensive lines to block long enough for a five step drop, they often rely on a good play action fake and throw by a QB who hopefully has the arm and accuracy to drop the ball in a barrel from half a field away... it's a 50-60% completion rate even on a great team with great players, it's a low percentage play.

The kid isn't some slot receiver getting 8-10 targets per game, and let's be honest... his QB's have sucked and his blocking spotty at best. He needs to stay healthy and have kept working at his craft. There were a lot of times the last two years where he was wide open.

Agreed his coaching has sucked as well. But yeah I'll agree to all of what you said

TT looks like he's added some weight . I have more faith he will catch on this time around. With now having a good QB.. who can absolutely sling it.. he should be able to connect on the deep routes against 4th and 5th DBs..

he is a one trick pony, straight line speed, that runs ****ty routes and has iffy hands.
will he turn it around in year 3? lets hope so, but he has 4 maybe 5 guys in front of him if Bourne is healthy.
the roster spot may come down to Milton, Thornton, Jake Andrews, Mapu, Mafi. who are you keeping? 2 have to be cut

Speed kills. And he's not a one trick pony if he can translate his college game to the pros. He was not only a field stretcher in college, but he was dangerous in the red zone. He's not just fast, he's tall, he has a wingspan longer than many offensive tackles and jumps almost 40 inches in the air. He caught a lot of TD's in college and was a dangerous weapon down in the redzone.

He has to stay healthy, work on his craft and the team around him has to be good enough to exploit his talents. He could go either way in year three.

I get it... any young player with a whiff of BB is on the chopping block. Why do these ^ specific guys have to be cut... based on what?

Oh yeah, the opinion of a BB hater so rigid, he'd rather hate on a young player because of who drafted him, rather than hope they succeed for the betterment of the team he's supposedly a fan of.

I don't believe any of those players you listed will be cut. Mafi and mapu will have bigger roles this season Jake Andrews is likely David Andrews replacement. Milton will make this roster and likely be the 3rd QB on the roster. So seed is something you can't coach. TT was drafted in the 2nd round because of his speed. I believe he's speed is top 5 in the league as far as straight line speed goes. The whole offense was ****ty the last few seasons so I'll agree on that. He has a real QB now and a much better offense with AVP that's more conducive to WR production and will allow him match up advantages. It's all on TT from here on out. He needs to stay healthy and make a case for himself to earn his roster spot.

I’d like to talk about someone else. What’s the deal with former Broncos S Simmons ? Not one team want him ?

No team can come to terms with Simmons. It does take two to agree to a contract.

Just seems like he’s performed and that usually a team or two is willing to meet demands before June.

Why?

He and Gilmore likely will wait, secure a deal that they like, and come to Training Camp. There is little advantage to them to sign earlier unless they got a really good deal that they felt that they couldn't refuse.

I think Thornton makes the team. What that means for the others, I'm not sure.

He'll be 31 years old this season, he probably wants Duggar money still.

He might also want to skip minicamp and join a team then.

you cant keep everyone.
I assume the team goes with 9 OL
Also assume 6 WR's
3 QB's?
3 RB's?
who do you have filling those spots?

so far he has shown nothing. zero. he hasn't even played fast when he has been on the field.
you will blame Mac. you will blame everyone but the player and the GM who drafted him as a reach.
meanwhile the player has done nothing to date to warrant a spot. lets see if he can change that over the summer. I have him as a long shot

Without a QB and O-Line… passing deep is impossible… that’s factual, not an original thought by Wozzy. Learn the game.
