I'm afraid you don't recall correctly. He could have gone, he was deactivated to make a spot for a special teams gunner (whose name escapes me at the moment). The Tuna screwed the pooch on that one.

I'm pretty sure you're wrong on that one. Brown had an abdominal injury and couldn't play. In addition to his third down receiving, his specialty at the time was special teams, and Desmond Howard ran through his area on the kickoff return TD that killed the Pats. I think it was Hassan Graham who took Brown's spot that day and missed the tackle.

Tuna did plenty of stuff to bash him for that week, but that's not one of them, I'm pretty sure.

Oh, and on the original point of the thread ... Troy Brown's entire '01 season was one of the best offensive seasons by any Patriot ever. He had great stats, but his importance to the team went far beyond even those stats. He was the MVP of that season, imo.
