I agree, poor choice of wording. Teams always look at the future, but not at the cost of being less competitive today. Coaches/GMs are paid to produce, and that product is wins. Multi-year rebuilds are not the way fo today's NFL, teams can go from bad to competitive very quickly. So if Hollins gives them a better chance today, and today being a team that should be competitive and could compete for a wildcard spot, they aren't going to keep a player that may be a better player in 2 years, over the guy that is better today.
But again, I think Chism will be a capable NFL slot WR in time, and would hate to lose him, If we can get him on the PS and keep him, that would be great.
