Tomase Delivers Another Shot at Dillon

He looked bad against Oakland -- before he was injured. It's also important to note that Dillon apologists continually point to his numerous, nagging injuries last year as the sole reason for his decline in production, yet ignore the fact that recurring, nagging injuries are a typical symptom of an older player that's begining to break down. But maybe your'e right. Dillon will defy his age. He will be the ageless wonder, He will continue to produce 1,600 yard seasons until he's 50, the time when he takes over George Foreman's grill empire.

Keep dreamin.

You gave him a physical before the season? You don't know if he was 100%.

And running into the 700-800 lbs. of Ted Washington and Sapp isn't likely to produce many holes for the running backs.

I swear if he ran with one leg amputated he'd still be a slacker to some.

Here's a quiz Einstein, who owns the Patriots single season rushing record and how many years ago was it accomplished?

It's not hard to recognize that many of the comments here regarding Tomase and the 'media' are straight out of the right wing's manual for hating the liberal-factless-biased-against-anyone's-success (except the slobs in Hollywood) media. The irony is that Tomase works for a right wing paper; just another tabloid raving about values in the op-eds while saying and showing anything to get attention - have you ever looked at the NY Post?

Give these reporters a break - they're just people like us trying to make their way in a tough world. Judging from all the TV shows, news columns, blogs, and radio talk, etc., we seem to be pretty hungry for the thoughts of these close observers of the Patriots. Personally, I love to see as much as can be put out - I don't mind sorting the through a little chaf to read the wheat.

I'll give these reporters a break when they give a 3 time superbowl chapionship team a break. In Boston that will be the same day hell freezes over.

I understand why they do it, because you won't make anything approaching what the players you cover make if you stick to writing a balanced and informative column about them in the daily paper. You won't starve, as Tomase is living proof, but you won't get all the lucrative gigs on all the shows now run by the Glen Ordway manuel on sports talk radio as theatre of the absurd. I just don't think they should get a pass because behaving like an a-hole is the only way you get ahead in the Boston sports media. It is a course they none the less chose to persue.

An almost giddy Felger did a 10 minute segment on his radio show tonight patting himself on the back for busting Beisel's chops in a mini-camp interview. He kept interspersing the audio cuts from Beisel's media blow-up last season. Then he played audio clips from today and asked his idiot sidekick Winter to assess HIS his performance. The assessment was he basically told Beisel he sucked last season and asked him why we should expect he won't suck again this season. There were high fives all around for the performance.

The tactic wasn't lost on Beisel either - you could hear it in how the tone of his voice changed as the interview dragged on - though he held his tongue and basically gave Felger canned Belichickspeak answers. See Felger is not happy to see Beisel back let alone apparently the Will LB - because HE wrote him off early last season and HE predicted his release. But HE doesn't have the stones to take his issues up with the guy who makes those decisions because on some level Felger knows Belichick would make him look like a moron in the process and give a competitor an audio clip on him they could milk for laughs ad nauseum too. And if that shoe were on the other foot Felger wouldn't like it one damn bit.

You guys need to RELAX about Tomase. Overall, he's a helluva lot closer to Reiss/Curran than Felger/Cafardo. And making it personal is uncalled for. Give it a rest. They're not always going to report things we like to hear.

I seem to remember him not updating it for like weeks after the article which mentioned that Chad Jackson caught EVERYTHING in rookie camp. I must have looked at that blog like 20 times!
Reiss usually comes up with something, even when things are dead.

Just because Tomase doesn't update his blog with the latest number assignments or who was wearing what at a charity golf game doesn't mean his blog is worthless.

We only have a few venues to get updates from minicamp. One source is saying Dillon looks fat while the other disagrees. Keep in mind Curran has been covering the Pats since the Tuna days. Tomase, meanwhile, is new to this stuff and so far has exhibited a more pessimistic tone in his reporting (he didn't get off to the best of starts with his moaning about BB's absence from the NFL coaches gala). It's up to who you want to believe.

What really matters here is Dillon's reaction. Is he one of those types who sulks around the field and feels sorry for himself when being questioned, or is he one that gets motivated by criticism? I'm leaning towards the latter.

Seymour93: He got fired from the Red Sox beat for being too harsh and pessimistic, and demoted to cover Boston's 'B' status team.

I feel like we deserve better, that's all. But I'll stick with Curran, Reiss, and the boys at the Patriots.com site!

I would turn this question around and ask, why all the tomase love coming from several different posters? What has he done that is so great as to make a name for himself in your mind. What new insight does he contribute that you feel is out of his great love for the Pats and understanding about the game of football.

I think he's a hack trying to hold onto any position he can cling to!

I'm not saying I prefer Tomase over the others. In fact I'd be much quicker to believe Curran and Reiss than Tomase.

Tomase is more indepth and opinionated than Reiss, who in turn is the better reporter, and last time I checked that's what Tomase is supposed to be doing, giving us the facts not his opinions.

more indepth than Reiss? I think Reiss's Pieces digs deeper for more facts and information than any other New England writer
