Tom Jackson just gave Cassel his game ball

I disagree. Jackson's issue is with the coach, not the QB. So here's my theory: in a panic that the Patriots might actually not suck after all, he has to desperately build up the Phenomenon That Is Matt Cassel to make sure that he's won't have to give BB any credit for the team's success.

Exactly right, you are correct as usual.

I was hoping to be the one to post that, but of course you beat me to it.

stop trolling for a date, PJ...she's probably married

Do you guys actually think he gave Cassel a commendation to try and make the current MVP on IR look bad when people think about it?

He's a troll, not a lunatic.
Just last week he said that Cutler was "already as good or better than Brady." THAT is lunacy.

Boomer and the rest of ESPN brass called him into their office and told him if his idiocy continued they would ship him off to the NFL Network to work alongside that other fraud Marshall Faulk.

crap. I saw the thread title, and thought I logged into the wrong forum. How long before Jackson says that Cassel hates his coach?

he may be the dumbest nfl analyst out there, and that is over some tough competition for the title

As much as I can't stand Tom Jackson, that title has got to belong to Mike Ditka. Hands down!!

On Monday night football

He did mention however that Cassel looks a lot like Brady

He throws like Brady, and reacts like Brady

There is a shot in there somewhere. I think its at Brady.

I guess all that hate mail and phone calls to ESPN asking for someone to explain Tom Jackson's obvious prejudice against the New England area teams finally touched a nerve with a producer. No way I believe he did this on his own accord. That's like Ditka or Faulk saying that Belichick is cool and the Patriots are a good team - No way, ain't happnin'.

Remember they broadcast from Bristol Ct. and that's in........THE NEW ENGLAND AREA!!!!!!!!!!!

he is a front runner of course he would

You guys do realize that these guys are scripted to say most of this **** right?

We try to ignore that fact so we have something to talk about all week

Jackson picked the 49ers. The Patriots won. Cassel played well. Jackson ate crow. I don't see the big deal here.

I agree that it is speculative to suggest that Jackson was deliberately trying to hurt BB with this particular remark. He was probably just eating crow and admitting he was wrong about Cassel. I think people do tend to try to read too much into every little comment.

However, I still agree with the overall sentiment below:

Jackson hates BB and whether he even realizes he is doing it or not, he will avoid giving BB any props. If the Pats do well without Brady, it is only natural for him to rationalize it by building up Cassel. It CAN'T be BB! It just Can't!!!

I'm with SVN on this one,he's probably getting some flak for his obvious dislike of BB and the Pats(even at ESPN????),with something like this once in a while,he can feign being objective.

I agree. Jackson hates the Patriots, but everything he does or says about them isn't a dig at them. I heard him on ESPN radio Sunday morning say the Pats were in trouble because they couldn't fix the running game, passing game, run defense, and pass defense in all one off-week. He was wrong. Now that he was served a big piece of humble pie, he is taking his lumps.

Even when Ditka admitted that he hated the Patriots, he commended them for being one of the most talented, well coached, and smartest teams in the league.

OT: I hear some soup kitchens have been caught serving spaghetti.

Yes, but it was spaghetti soup and they even made it in the kitchen. Of course the naysayers would call it spaghetti stew.
