Insights from our great - maybe greatest - QB, Tom Brady
Here's an affirmation for those of us who think that we are extremely lucky to have a selfless and mature guy like Tom Brady as our QB.
Excellent summary of his recent interview in BH:
The Blitz with Jeff Howe & Karen Guregian | Boston Herald
Two gems, IMO:
-----
On whether the Patriots prefer being the underdog:
“Well, you look at it, everyone will be picking us. It could be, across the board, everyone’s going to be picking the Patriots over the Bills like it’s going to be some easy win, which is so far from the case in the NFL. I just think you have to ignore all the noise, because it’s all a bunch of hot air, it’s all a bunch of BS, because you don’t want to listen to it, you just want to focus on what you want to focus on.”
On why he never complains about personnel losses or roster moves:
“I don’t know what benefit that gives us. I don’t know if that helps. I certainly don’t think it does. There’s no solution in going out there to ***** and complain about all the things you wish you could have or don’t have. So you try to do the best you can do but based on your circumstances that are available. But there are a lot of things that have happened over the course of the season that we never anticipated. But you know what? Deal with it and try to go out there and bring your competitiveness and your energy to every game and every week and be a good leader and set a good example. I had all these great leaders and examples before me. My first year I got a chance to play in 2001 when Drew got hurt, there’s no one that complained about the situation. That was a great example for me. Someone else got the opportunity to go out there and play and that happened to be me and I tried to get the best opportunity I could for the team and it ultimately resulted in a championship. You can’t tell me that going into that season that if Drew got hurt that people thought we’d have a chance to win. But that’s just the way it goes in the NFL and different guys get different opportunities and we’ve got a lot of guys step in and play well and brought a lot of guys in over the course of the year, guys that have played roles to help us win games. So you can never predict what’s going to go on and the competition is on a daily basis and a weekly basis on Sunday. So you really just have to focus on that week and figure out what your matchups are and where your advantages are and try to play to them. So I think we’ve shown that we’re competitive, that we’re in every game. I don’t think we’ve gone out there and dominated every week, but I think there’s plenty of weeks where we’ve done more than the other team and hopefully we can do more of that down the stretch.”

Boy! That last one is applicable so much in real life too.
Though I respect other great qbs, Tom Brady will always be #1 in my list as not only as the QB, but a leader and a selfless player.
Go Pats!!
PS: Request to the Pats - please let me get delirious in my hometown just on watching you folks lift the trophy in Feb. Make it happen, please!!
