Tim Wakefield

Wakefield actually only has 150 wins for Boston, 14 of his 164 came in Pittsburgh. It would probably take him 3 more full seasons after 2007 to amass 43 wins, which is certainly possible, but still a longshot.

Wakefield has 13 wins, which means he is tied with Beckett, he has pitched more innings than Beckett, and has pitched in more games than Beckett. He doesn't usually get injured enough to miss starts, he is a veteran and leader in the clubhouse, and finally he can still go a couple of more years because he doesn't put a lot of stress on his arm with the way he throws. So there is really no reason to complain about him, especially if you are complaining that he is boring to watch, or that he loses a lot of games.

How could anyone think Wake was boring to watch. Its an adventure. You get to see guys miss badly, knowing that the ball is arriving like Boston rush hour. In one of the articles, it also mentioned he's been nominated for the Roberto Clemente award seven times, thus, he's a pretty good guy.

Wakefield pitched today, and did well in getting the win. He allowed no runs in 8 shutout innings, and had a no-no into the seventh. He ended up only allowing 2 hits, and helped out the bullpen by not letting anyone have to pitch but Papelbon who came in and got the save while actually giving up no runs unlike Gange

Wakefield now has 15 wins, been a real roll lately, last night 7 innings of shut out ball... difficult to complain.. eating innings, keeping them in the game.. giving Bull Pen a night off.. great salary.. great clubhouse guy, looks like the 10th player award to me.

I agree, the guy is solid. He has some bad games (who doesn't), but he's been an asset overall.

16 wins now.. shutout ball.. this guy is like the everready bunny, just keeps going and going.. cool as a cucumber.. great asset to this team.
