I think he would play for 12 or maybe even 11 million per but the thing that may hold him back from re-signing is the pats may only want to do a one or two year deal and I think he will want at lest a 4 year deal lets say 4 years 45 million with close to 20 million of it guaranteed

The question is the real contract. BTW, I think that the patriots would sign 4/45/20 tomorrow.

This contract might work. I would note that (IMHO), the 4th year is just for publicity.

I think these situations work both ways. If Belichick respects and wants Revis, and thinks that he can help us be competitive for another couple of Super Bowls, then Belichick will pay him.

I don't understand why folks think that poster think that players should take a discount to play for the patriots. There are other good organizations with SB potential who would be greatly helped by the addition of Revis.

Faced with paying Harris $10M a year, DEN might be willing to pay Revis $13M.

Obviously, there are many other examples. The point is that Revis will have more than one reasonable choice.

Could you imagine Vinatieri not wanting to leave? Lawyer Malloy? Welker? I have little difficulty imagining Revis leaving for a better deal elsewhere.

A 5 million dollar dead money hit would sting should it not work. Losing an All-Pro caliber CB who's still performing at a high level would sting even worse. I believe something will get done in the off-season, probably just before the deadline methinks.

None of them wanted to leave in the sense you mean in that they did not enjoy playing for the Patriots. They left because they could not reach a satisfactory financial deal with the Patriots. Malloy was given a take it or leave it deal like Welker. He left.

Milloy admitted that his agent sent out feelers heading into those contract talks, so he was more than happy leaving. If he was comfortable strong-arming NE into releasing him, he would have been fine moving on in free agency.

Revis will want more than anyone else is making out there. The top corners, other than Revis, are all off the market now, so he'll get it.

And it damned well SHOULD BE from the Patriots. He's not only as good as any corner in football, and will be for a couple/few more years, he's also smart enough on the defensive side of the ball to shift over to be a world-class safety when the time comes.

Well Adam didnt surprise me, BB wasnt going to pay a kicker that much money, malloy wasnt a great loss, and welker, well you wont get me to say i was really disappointed, he is damaged goods and it is proving itself true, BB knew this. At least when he has dementia hopefully everyone will remember Manning leading him into danger.

But all i was really saying is I think Revis likes being on a successful team, with a good coach, he hasnt experienced that long term. I dont expect him to take a discount, I can see 12-13M a year but if someone offers him say 15 and it isnt a consistent contender I dont think he will take it. Welker wouldnt have left if he didnt go to play with Manning.

IN the end it doesnt matter, either he will be here or not.

Revis would have preferred the Jets to the Patriots this year. All it would take is such a team to decide Revis is worth more to them than Bill decides he is worth to the Patriots. Not hard for me to imagine.

As soon as Tampa Bay decided to bail on the cornerback only one year into his nonguaranteed six-year, $96 million deal, at least two senior Jets officials were directly notified by Revis and his reps, Neil Schwartz and Jonathan Feinsod, that they preferred a Jets sequel over other enticing options. Maybe that stated preference never made it to Woody Johnson's desk; maybe it did. Either way, Revis' wish list read like this:

I have no doubt that Revis' agent contacted a large number of NFL teams, including the NY Jets, the NE Patriots, and many more teams, to bid on Revis' services.

I seriously doubt that, all things being equal, the NY Jets would have been his first choice.

When it comes to these big-$ hi-profile "FAN-FAVORITE" guys, I always wonder if the Patriots use the benefits of outside-marketing enticements sufficiently AND how much or how little it impacts these guys deciision making.

If a fan-favorite sticks for a career in one (major-market) place (for ex, Troy Brown); he is guaranteed a life-time of endorsement contracts from the Bob's Sporting Goods of the world. When they walk away like Ty Law and go other places for one-year here, two years there; they maybe build up some visibility for an BSPN broadcasting gig; but they have no 'home fan base' anymore.

And those endorsements while he is still playing can bump up his take-home by a more than what the differential maybe that a Redskins or Faiders organization can pay him in straight up salary. Trouble is how you quantify that as the Patriots organization when you are negotiating.

If Revis goes the Rodney route with the Patriots and sticks around he will be another one who never has to buy himself a beer if he ever goes out ANYWHERE within 50 miles of boston.
