This has an opening post with good commentary and information, which we definitely recommend reading.

We would still have Hawkins and Elliss.

They would need upgraded eventually too, but all defenses have at least a weak spot or too. A truly nasty front can cover your deficiencies (and good coaching which we have)

Speaking of Ellis, guess who led the team in tackles against the Bills?

HINT: it was a tie between two players that have not gotten much love on this board.

Agreed. If you look at this in totality where amongst some teams in the league with a " nasty front " Barmore and milt lead the league in pressures at thier positions or close to it. Tonga is a beast, farmer has been a factor as well. Hawkins has been playing better and probably at this stage unless someone better comes available then he's the starting S next to Woodson.

QBs left we can play man against.
Rattler
Mayfield
Tua
Penix
Gabriel
Flacco* ( will likely be starting in Cincy)
Dart

Zone:
Fields
Allen
Jackson
Ward

Just my opinion...

Hopefully on hawkins, it is still pretty early in the season so willing to give him time to cut down on the big errors. But edge rush i definitely think we should prioritize that next year. You can only get by so long with scheming up the pressure , our weak schedule and most of the qbs we’ll see this year will probably allow for it but if we do make the playoffs i think then we’ll see the need for being able to get home with 4.

I'd put Dart and Mayfield into the other category, myself.
Also you can play man against Ward. He *can* run, but he *hates* running.

Agreed. Dart can run but dabol wants him to stay in the pocket.. Mayfield can scramble but really is a pocket qb.

Agreed. We get pressure with 4.. Chaisson and Landry have been great with pressure on edges. Even if the sacks don't happen it's the pressure that matters. It creates TOs.

We can't run
Neither can you

It's our QB
Versus your QB

Yo soy poet soul
You are toilet bowl

May the best team win

"Yo Soy Fiesta"

The pass defense should have a good week in New Orleans against QB Spencer Rattler.. The rushing defense will have its hands full trying to contain Kendre Miller and Alvin Kamara. That's a good offensive line down there plus Tayson Hill at TE. I expect a rock fight and a low score unless the Patriots can get some key turnovers.
We should be disappointed if we don't score at least 24. NO is a really bad team.

Out of curiosity I checked the Patriots defensive DVOA ranking. With their early struggles against the pass I thought that it would be in the low 20s, but was somewhat surprised at their actual 27th ranking.

As a team they went from 20th to 21st after beating Buffalo (turnovers negated Buffalo's slightly superior play).
