I happened across this site, the HuddleReport.com in my draft wanderings and I really enjoy it. It offers sometimes zany profiles of prospects, but I appreciate the originality of the material as it differs from the stock analysis you find elsewhere on the web from so-called experts who probably haven't watched the players on film. Among the interesting ideas they offer is a Length to Impact chart, which expresses how soon a player drafted in a specific round should begin to impact you team in order to justify his draft status. Good, original stuff. According to this chart, if C. Jackson can make an impact starting early next year, he'll be right on target! An interesting reference... http://thehuddlereport.com/nickelpackage/LTI Chart.shtml

That is interesting, and if true we really do not know what we have here, I suspect that for a lot of reasons, probably most due to injuries, he was pretty much redshirted this year. I expect next year, if he does not pull a Donald Hayes on us, he will have much more of an impact. That is why I do not see us expending a draft pick on a WR on day 1.

That's so generic it's tough to think much of it. If it were for each individual player pre-draft basedon NFL readiness that would be more interesting.

I have hopes for Jackson next year though.

How can you do that? If that knowledge were available there would be no busts.

I think the chart is useful as a general tool and remeinder that players do not generally contribute their first season. A bonus if they do, but it is the exception rather than the norm.

It puts a little perspective into looking at Jackson, especially as he missed most of training camp.

Here's to next year.

Of course you could do it. Not to say you'd always be right. But some players are just more NFL ready than others based on where they played and maturity level.

Interestingly, Robert Gallery was considered one of the safest picks when he came out
