My lowest point as a Patriot fan wasn't a helmet catch, or a Manningham catch. It wasn't even a Superbowl loss. My lowest point was, with Gronk injured, and our entire starting defense on IR, Brady sailing a pass well over a wide open Edelman in Mile High stadium. That was the first time I had ever started to doubt whether or not we would ever do it. It wasn't a conviction that we wouldn't, but I was no longer positive we someday would.
For the brief period between Talib leaving, and Revis signing, this doubt became greater, but it was short lived.
Moving beyond the story of this season, and coming full circle to where we are today, I feel like Patriot fans finally have the peace of mind we've all wanted for so long.
I glanced at a Jets forum last night and saw they were still foaming at the mouth about slightly under inflated footballs, ignoring all the latest news that exonerates us, and overplaying the earliest rumors and lies that prematurely convicted us.
I'm sure it's the same for Steeler fans, and Bills fans, and Bronco fans, and whoever else whose dreams our Dynasty has trampled.
I just don't care anymore. These are the mindless ramblings of a stupid mob comprised entirely of spiteful, petty, envious little men, and all their venom is little more than a degenerates pitiful and lone means of revenge.
I don't feel any need to defend this organization against these people. I don't care if the Chris Carter's of the world want to use their bully pulpit on television to discredit us. I don't care if some hack wants to write articles about the `greatness of Peyton Manning.` I don't care if the Jets fan base or the lowly Steeler fan base puts an asterisk next to our name. It just doesn't affect me anymore.
Four rings defends itself, and I feel totally and utterly at peace with the accomplishments of this football team. I no longer feel inclined to explain the truth of Crygate to our detractors, or explain to people why they're an idiotic mob who have been failed by our public education system in such spectacular fashion for believing the Patriots snuck into a room and deflated footballs cleared by NFL officials.
Like someone trying to convince me that George Bush laced the World Trade Center with explosives, I'm perfectly content to respond to these miscreants with a simple "lol"
18-1 doesn't both me. The Manningham catch doesn't bother me. Like Luke Skywalker losing his hand in the second of a three act saga, these were just battle-scars in the greatest journey the NFL has ever witnessed.
So to all our haters, big and small: Bring on your long winded, nonsensical, conspiracy theory, venom-laced, fabricated, lie-driven diatribes.
I'm too at peace to care. These attacks can't touch us anymore. From here on they break against me like water against rock.
"lol You're all morons" is all I feel inclined to say, if I feel inclined to say anything at all
