Texans agreed to terms with RB Ahman Green, 30, on a four-year, $22 million contract, including $6.5 million in guarantees.
The deal is probably structured so that Houston can get out easily after two years. Green played under Texans line coach Mike Sherman in Green Bay and is a fit for the zone blocking scheme. While he'll be the immediate starter in Houston, we suspect he'll get less carries in the end than he did in Green Bay. He slowed down noticeably in the second half of 2006 and would best be served sharing snaps with one of the Houston reserves - Wali Lundy, Samkon Gado, or Chris Taylor. Ron Dayne may also be re-signed. While Green provides Houston some stability, don't expect him to re-emerge as a top back. Mar. 4 - 6:16 pm et
Man these teams are giving some fat contracts.
