Testing Prevent Defense on Madden

There have been a number of posts questioning the Prevent Defense when ahead in the latter stages of a game. When it sometimes fails, some have called it the Prevents Win Defense. I don't have the Madden computer simulation, but I'm wondering if anyone who has it has tested the Prevent Defense vs a more aggressive early game defensive scheme. Just curious.

Calling Madden a simulation is a big stretch. I mostly run only run two plays on defense in Madden - Cover 2 Man and Cover 3 Sky. These seem to be the most dominant plays against the AI. If I am leading in the closing minutes, I just play Cover 3 Sky in a dime package. I don't think I've ever run a quarter or half dollar defense unless I knew a hail marry was coming.

Since it's not a pure simulation, you can't really run any meaningful tests.

Not sure but I love playing an opponent that constantly plays Engage 8 on defense. Audibles into slants and screens FTW.

I never run prevent defense in Madden. I use 4-3 defense and play man-to-man coverage before the red zone and mostly cover-3 zones in the red zone. If you start calling prevent defense like the Patriots from your opponent's 20 yard line and use prevent all the way in Madden, you will give up a touchdown most of the time because your opponent will dink and dunk you to death.

Madden's about as good a football sim as Fantasy Football.
