Ten early NFL player predictions for coming season

The funny thing is, that while many teams will stay bad, or get worse, I don't see many HCs being fired, exc. Marv Lewis, Kiffin, and one of Nolan or Linehan, though both is still possible. If the cowpukes go down in flames due to all the combustible parts, then SonofaBum is def. gonzo. And even Norv Turner can't eff-up the SuperSteroids from 10+ wins.

As for the Pats: KWash & Slater stay, Aiken & lil' Bo not a peep Ruud don't; Guyton & Redd try to pass waivers to PS, but neither make it there 'cause we just gotta keep Izzo & Alexander yaknow. Nickie the Snitch's fate depends on law enforcement, the Omissioner and Oliver Ross. And Matt Cassel should be renting and not buying, just in case.

I also like Rob0729's predictions, esp. about Seattle. If their revamped running game gets respect, they should be OK; if not, their WR situation could be a train wreck.

8.) The Pats won't come close to having the offense they had last year (although it will be #1 or #2 in the league), but the team will be far more balanced in terms of offense and defense much like how they went from one of the best defenses of all time and an average offense in 2003 to one of the leagues best in offense and defense in 2004.

I both agree and disagree - I agree with the offense v. defense balance part, but I do think the offense from this year is going to improve and be more balanced itself. A healthy Chad Jackson, Sammy Morris, Dave Thomas could make an impact - and an extra TC and offseason together can only help Brady, Moss, Welker chemistry and help McD, Brady and BB create a more efficient offense.

And to add onto your point about the D - this defense will get off the field faster than last seasons. That means more opportunities for the offense, which means more points.

Because nobody makes any 19-0 Pats prediction in this season, i'm going to make one right now. If you see it, you know that it's me.

I see the Pats offense being more balanced. I think we will probably control the time of possession more, but not score basketball type of scores like we did last year. I meant that it won't come close to breaking the records that were set last year. I still think it will be one of the best, if not the best, offense in the league.

Even with improved talent, it will be hard to dublicate the success of last year's offense. Personally if we sacrifice some points for longer time of possession, it may make this team much stronger even if the stats and regular season win totals don't reflect it.

Case in point, the 2003 defense was one of the best defenses of all time in my opinion. Our 2004 defense wasn't as good, but the 2004 team was probably the best overall team the Patriots had ever.

As others have said, I don't see Kelley Washington being cut.

I don't see the Browns improving on last season's record. To me they have big question marks at DB and RB.

At some point I see Dallas imploding. I don't think Wade Phillips is mentally tough enough to handle a locker room that includes TO, Pacman, Tank Johnson, Tony Romo/Jessica Simpson and also hold off Jerry Jones.

Seeing all the attention TO gets in Dallas, Chad Johnson will then one-up TO and get himself suspended by Marvin Lewis for the rest of the season.

I'll go out on a limb and predict that the Dolphins will win more games this year than last year, and the Patriots win less games than last year.

chad jackson will not be num. 2 reciever, welker will be (agian) and moss num. 1

next year it will be the same thing, and after moss leaves, chad will be num. 1, with welker num. 2

but as long as Randy is in NE and is young/fast, hes number 1 reciever, with num. 1 look all day every day

...

5. The Giants will make the playoffs. Winning the Super Bowl game itself was a fluke but the Giants have now made the playoffs 3 straight years. I think only the Pats and Colts can say that, maybe Seattle too. So it's not like they came from absolutely nowhere. They have a good team that got contributions from 8 rookies last year, a young QB, a good young OL, and a tremendous pass rush. Also their key loss was Kawika Mitchell. They'll be good again.

...

The Giant are -Strahan and possibly +Shockey.

My prediction: whatever theory you come up with, our offense is NOT going to score more points than last season.

My top 10 NFL player predictions:

#10: LT gets hurt early in the year, missess 6+ games and the Chargers finish 9-7 due to that fact.

#9: Eli Manning has a pitiful year and talks re-emerge about firing Coughlin and replacing Manning.

#8: Darren McFadden takes over Ryan Leaf's spot as the highest paid bust in NFL history.

#7: Chris Long wins Defensive ROY award, despite the Rams awful record.

#6: Larry Johnson gets injured again, decides to retire after this season ala Priest Holmes.

#5: Ted Ginn Jr. shows that he is a complete bust as Miami's #1 reciever.

#4: Aaron Rodgers has a great year in Green Bay making most "forget" that Favre isn't there anymore.

#3: Adrian Peterson gets slowed WAY down this year as teams key on him knowing that the Vikings cannot pass the rock.

#2: Peyton Manning has an awful year behind a rookie line, no Marvin Harrison and a subpar performance from Addai.

#1: Tom Brady throws for 56 touchdowns, wins league AND Superbowl MVP awards...and of course his 4th ring.

I agree - records may not be broken, but I also feel that if take balance into consideration, that the 2008 offense might become a better offense than the record setting 2007 one. I agree we should go for more of a ball control offense. Moss proved repeatedly that he is still an asset - and perhaps even a bigger asset - even when he is just running a 10 yard out or incut. The defense can't stop him from making those catches and if Brady puts it on the mark, its a guaranteed 8-12 yards. In fact, that approach won us the Colts game and would've won us the Super Bowl if that final NYG drive didn't go the way it did.

1-Brady and Moss have a great season after setting another record.
2-Welker will be a Pats player.
3-Eli and Peyton Manning still suck.
4-Maroney and Morris will set a record.

4 for now and I'll give you the rest before this season ends.
