Freeman was becoming a distraction, and he was untradeable because of the amount of money he was making (plus he's a free agent next year).

It probably makes more sense for them to cut him than to keep him around.

I said try. Even Ryan Leaf got a chance with a second team. Some team will think they can change him.

Yeah, it was the right move. I'd say he already WAS a major distraction and was untrade-able. Might as well cut your losses and move on.

If the Jets didn't draft Gee, No Smith, I would expect them to have been in the running. They have better clubs up there than Tampa, too.

Unless Schiano starts winning this is one of the nails in his coffin and he'll be out by season's end. Freeman drama plus losing plus the way they are using Revis is just going to be too much.

Just a guess, but the Bucs release Freeman today and pay him his money, or the Bucs and Schiano get sued and fined for HIPPA violations.

Nothing builds trust with the players from a coach who hasn't done much in the league like throwing his players under the bus by releasing their personal information.

Given that the NFL mandates certain public releases of information, and doctors need to consult with coaches, I'm fairly sure that players must sign some form of HIPAA waiver.

Freeman will be back in the NFL soon enough.

Not sure Schiano will be after this fiasco.

No doubt Freeman is a scrub, but, still Schiano could've handled the situation differently and not so headstrong. His time in the pros is dwindling fast.

As for Freeman, it sounds like he has a nose-candy addiction, and is a party animal. Until he gets himself straightened out on that front, I don't expect to see him being a starter again anytime soon, if ever again.
