People keep listing Slater on the depth chart as receiver and I wish they'd stop.

He is averaging 1/5th of a catch in his five year career. That's one (1) catch.

He also has one rush for 6 yards, so list him in the depth chart at RB for a while. Mix it up.

Of curse, he's played the most at safety, but please don't list him on that depth chart, I still have nightmares.

Slater is a great special teams guy and not a part of the WR depth chart. He is behind someone named waiver wire guy if calamity struck.

Whether we keep Edelman likely depends more on interest and market value elsewhere, we still don't have a full complement of receivers.

What career??

Amen.

It's unfathomably stupid that neither the NFL nor any FootBall-related Site can get over the infinitesimally small mental hump of simply listing Special Team Specialists as Special Team Specialists.

If we're talking about some Scrapper who's making'is bones on Special Teams while he tries to work'mself up the Depth Chart as a MidFielder, HalfBack, Flanker, or what have you, then by all means: list'm accordingly.

But if he's clearly a Special Teamer who makes only the rare and often horrifying Cameo on the 22 ~ like Tracy White, for instance ~ then why pretend otherwise??

If they evolve, unexpectedly, into a legitimate Positional Role ~ as Marquice Cole possibly might ~ then there's no reason that they cannot then have their Designation appropriately changed to reflect the current reality.

...rivals that of Taylor Price.

Your last sentence is an understatement

. Besides Slater, we have Amendola, Jonas, and three practice squadders.
The Sanders report was false. We may or may not have Lloyd at the
end of the day. If not, our situation is precarious.

I know Slater is a special teams "star," but you think he would eventually develop to the point where he could contribute meaningfully otherwise, if even in a spot role. Then again, Larry Izzo wasn't much of a linebacker.

Whenever Slater the "receiver" is brought up, I go back to that surprise bomb to him in the 2011 AFCCG that was intercepted. :bricks:

I dont see a problem. That is 3 guys right there. DA, Jonas, BL, and JE and you are good!

If I am not mistaken,The last player to get downfield and make a 60+ yard catch from Brady was none other ......than Slater against the Dolphins a few years ago.

Not a 60 yard pass,but a pass CAUGHT 60 yards downfield.

Slater has the speed to get open deep,I just don't think the talent is there ala Bethel Johnson.
