Samuel looking for $30 million guaranteed [10 years, $100M]

which was the last offer of the Pats for Samuel?

Reportedly last fall their offer was for 5 years at an average of $6M. The giveaway that it wasn't quite that was the bonus or guarantee wasn't even $10M. Players expect to see at least two and preferably 3 years (especially on a 6 year contract) of the average money up front, so a real deal for $6M would have included $12-15M in bonus or guarantees. They were really pegging him as closer to a $5M player, which was similar to what they were offering in the Branch deal.

And at the time he seemed to want to be in the $7M range since he was pointing out how they gave $20M in bonus money to a FA (AD).

See ya....Let some other team over pay for him..It's unreasonable and..my bet is two years down teh line..his play will be less than stellar..

in italy we call the request like samuel did "fuori mercato"(out of the market?)...Often the player after the shot re-signs with former team...
i hope this..

i disagree with ya. i dont want him back no matter what he agrees to. assante is dead to me. he's moved on, and so am i. anyone who whines as much about money as he has, is not a patriot. go get your 'blockbuster' deal from the saints, and miss the playoffs.....so long assante

What are you basing your comments on? Hope you don't say it was his tatoo...

I like AS but he is not worth even close to what he is asking.
Name one free agent that BB & SP LET LEAVE the Pats that
has gone on to have a better career somewhere else? No one,
if he made the SB game sealing INT then maybe I would
cut him some slack.
You want the big money you have to make the big plays.

Can't think of any, except possibly Curtis Martin and that
was Parcells that let him go.

Hate to see him go but good luck to him if someone will give him
that type of money...

Parcells acquired Martin at the start of the Carroll/Grier era. Martin

was an RFA who signed an offer sheet which contained the original

poison pill.
