It is interesting that on the same day Payton and Mangini are named head coaches, that these are the same two young coaches who, after being pegged as Al Davis's top choices and heavily recruited to be be HC & DC over the past few years for the Raiders, were talked out of taking those jobs by Bill Parcells and Bill Belichick respectively.
