Rewatching the dolphins game: Defense

Undefeated and defense giving up less points after 7 games then last year after 7 games. Last year our first game against Miami the defense gave up 33 points and we lost the game. The defense may not be as good as the defense at the end of last year yet but they are better then last years team after 7 games.

I was going to mention strength of schedule etc......but I do like this defense. The front 7 looks like a freakin bulldozer at times. It has been fun to watch. I hope Sheard gets back into action next week.

Miami used a lot of misdirection to destroy two NFL defenses in consecutive weeks. They obviously thought it would work against our D, but it went nowhere. Plan B was Tannehill throwing downfield, which was the game plan that helped get their HC fired. They were terrible when Tannehill threw a lot earlier in the season. He's just not Brady or Rogers and asking him to do what those guys can do is unrealistic.

It was interesting to see the Texans D look so poorly disciplined--made me appreciate ours. They weren't even defending the read-option well, which has been in the league for a few years now.

On another note, it was sad to see Wilfork get moved around so easily. Still drew double teams, but he was getting turned and pushed wherever the OL wanted him to go. What a difference from the disruptive force he was here for years.

While the Patriots game plan for each contest, a team that switches HC's in the middle of the season and gives the title to a TE Coach may have some issues in deviating from their norm...

The Pats are used to seeing seasoned players, offenses and consistent OC's.. while all the rest switch those personnel and positions often, leading to offensive instability..

While we always say BB takes away their strength, he also exploits their weakness.. in this case a very predictable offense... the Dolphins organization has done a crappy job developing Ryan Tannehill.. and overspending on Suh ( aka who??) was a poor choice...

Tannehill is not Marino walking through that door.. even though they invested heavily in him..

Yes. Then again, I don't know for a fact that there was much there to develop in the first place.
