Brady is not the athlete that Jordan was, but he has the edge in a few categories.
1. It took Jordan 8 years to win his first championship, Brady did it in his second year.in his 8th year brady already had 3.
2. Brady’s clutchness in the playoffs is more impressive to me than Jordan’s because in the NBA, you have to beat a team 4 times to move on while the NFL is sudden death.
3. What was Jordan doing at age 41? He was a complete shell of himself.
Where Jordan still has the edge
1. Jordan went 6-0 in the finals
2. Jordan was better in the regular season and everyone knew what was coming when they played the bulls.
3. Jordan is the better overall natural athlete.

It’s hard to compare them because it’s different sports and Jordan’s greatness is different but we can have the conversation now that both have 6.

It’s Brady. I love basketball, but it cannot compare to longevity and excellence in a contact sport. That is the easy separator.

Wow....just wow....

Comparing guys across sports...or even from different eras in the same sport is just a fool's errand, IMO..... BUT OMG...we are talking about Brady vs. Jordan....dayum....

Six Lombardis.....and I haven't been to the Pats' HOF since the 4th one....they are gonna have to blow up that display to add 1 more....at least the banners outside have room for one more after 6...LOL.

Remember we ran out of room last time? Lolol

Where Jordan still has the edge
1. Jordan went 6-0 in the finals

Jordan played 15 seasons and made 6 finals, meaning that nine times he did not make the finals.

Clearly 6-0 (Jordan) is worse than 6-3 (Brady). Why? Because losing earlier in the playoffs is not a sign of superiority. It is in fact the opposite.

you are morphing the silly recycled Joe Montana "never lost a Super Bowl" argument

One plays basketball, the other plays football.

They are both are all time greats imo. Hate these kind of comparisons. Sounds like a Undisputed episode that Sharp and Bayless would discuss.

Much Much harder to win ONE game for the chamionship then best 4 out of 7 (as in NBA). In one game flukes and bizarre unlucky incidents cand typically do happen to derail the truly better team from winning. So much more pressure on a winner take all single game than a best 4 oout of 7 series. Also in the NFL the teams basically completely turnover each year.
Clearly Jordan is the better athlete BUT winning 6 Super bowls is by far the more amazing accomplishment!!!!

A few of those were against the bad boy pistons right?

The NBA is a 1 to 4 team league at any given point. I love pro basketball. It’s my second favorite sport after football, but it’s just entirely different from a competitive aspect compared to the NFL.

What the Bulls teams did was special for the NBA but the NBA just doesn’t compare to the NFL from a competitive aspect.

I'm going to get killed for saying this, but before I do, let me preface this by agreeing with another poster above, cross-comparing between two totally different sports is a fool's errand.

That said, the thing that may separate Jordan is that he won 3 rings. Quits IN THE MIDDLE OF HIS PRIME. Bulls clearly faltered, he comes back. First full season sets the NBA season record for wins and they win 3 straight on his back again. And I don't point this out to say that he would have won more rings if he had not retired early, but that it is EXTREMELY difficult to quit your craft right in the middle of your prime and come back better than you were before. The only other figure to ever accomplish something like that was Ali.

Brady is the GOAT in American football, hands down. But comparing him to Jordan runs into a few problems, for a myriad of reasons. Primarily because Jordan quit at the peak of his prime...and played a different sport.

6-3 and better than 6-0...that should be obvious (as another poster said above)

The best teams in the NBA win more times than not. That is not the case in the NFL. Last I checked the Warriors were -190 to win it all meaning you had to bet $190 to win $100. No team in the NFL is ever a favorite like that during the season. Kobe and Duncan both won 5 titles so I do not find Jordan's 6 anywhere near the accomplishment of Brady. He was an incredible player and a transcendent personality but his team success is not in the same ballpark.

the graphic with Jordan on it is missing somebody

11 championship rings
12-time all-star
5-time league MVP
(Played in an era where a championship series MVP was not given)
considered the greatest defensive player who ever lived

you may recognize him

Brady sits at the table with the greats now. Ruth, Ali, Gretzky, Jordan, Russell. I might add Woods, although his personal life was a disaster and it affected him on the golf course. Nicklaus. Serena Williams, Michael Phelps. Federer.

Mr Brady, party of 11. Your table is ready.

Brady has led two separate dynasties in an era of free agency and salary cap where those are the only two dynasties

It's tough because they're different sports, as other people have said. Couple thoughts:

Point for Brady: in the NBA, one player has much more impact on the game, so you can argue that championships are easier (witness the number of teams that have 5+ championships during a dynasty run in the NBA vs that number in the NFL). Brady could have gone 9-9 in Super Bowls if his defense had made the final stop in the three losses.

Point for Jordan: He was always clearly the best player in the league each year. He probably should have won the MVP every year he played in the 90s. Brady is always in the top 5 or so but a rough estimate is that he was clearly the best player in 30% of those years, maybe? I think Brady would have had to put up 2007 or 2010 numbers each year to be the equivalent of Jordan relative to the rest of the league.

I mean, I'll take Brady over Jordan, because I'm biased. But I can see the point of view of people that want to go the other way.

Mount Rushmore of American sports history: Ruth, Jordan, Ali, Brady. That's insane. Good enough for me!

It's a waste of time to make these comparisons across sports between athletes. It's especially invalid to compare team sports to individual sports. Team sports all-time greats need to not only co-exist, but make their teammates better.

I do think it's fair to compare coaches. They have many of the same challenges and need to evolve over many more years than their athletes to be truly great ones.

Given the era of free agency, salary caps, 24-hour news cycles, fewer draft rounds, etc. I do think Belichick is the best NFL head coach ever.

How he compares to other great coaches - Scotty Bowman, Al Arbour, Jack Parker, Phil Jackson, Red Auerbach, Joe Torre, Nick Saban, John Wooden, Geno Auriemma, Pat Summit, Anson Dorrance, etc., is worth some discussion. All of them had great players and faced player or coach thing. I think it's fair to compare college and pro coaches as leaders, decision makers and innovators.

Belichick is right there with the very best of them.
