Reiss: Belichick's amazing crystal ball

"They aren't going to leave it on the sheet." You mean that one? Sounded like BB had a copy of the game plan. More cheating no doubt.

Dude is just sick in his preparation and forward thinking. This play, the Denver snap out of the endzone, Troy Brown at CB...all practiced before the situation came up where they were needed.

This instance is especially messed up. If you ran the practice tape and the game tape, they are almost identical right down to the field position and route the WR ran! AD, Chung and the DBs were all over this play because they had run the exact same scenario a couple of days earlier.

Do you job was critical on this play, if AD had missed the QB, it was a sure touchdown, there was an open wide receiver to the left. He was not accounted for. Someone will get an earful from BB even though this play was a success.

I know you're tongue in cheek here, but I'm just waiting for someone to seriously suggest that Bill Belichick was talking about cheating on a day he knew he'd be wired for sound.

Just watched it.. that was simply amazing.. very insightful. No wonder BB likes to keep things under wraps as much as possible.

This is just ridiculous! He is awesome.

As far as the "leave it on the sheet," I take it to mean that it is known as a play they run, and they are going to try everything they got to get something going.

They are going to try a play by the end of the game if nothing else is working.

i think when he says "he wont leave it on the gameplan and he is going to call them" he is referring to dan henning and probably BB is speaking from past exp about how he calls the games.

The patriots do very heavy charting and trend analysis of coaches and play calling tendencies with respect to down and distance. They've got tape/charts of what guys called as OCs in college.

Yeah, Bruschi said last week on a radio interview herein Florida (before the Miami game) that Bill was kicking himself a year ago after Miami for not preparing for the wildcat, even though Miami had never run it. Why? Simply because the Dolphins had a QB coach that had been an assistant at Arkansas where they had run the wildcat! Bill was angry at himself because he thought he should have expected it!

So... Bill is apparently thinking about the backgrounds of even the position coaches with respect to what kinds of trick plays they ran during previous jobs. That's a level of preparation that is incredible.

So right now Bill may be thinking about what school the Colts tight ends coach (or running back coach, or whatever) went to and what sort of fake field goal plays (for example) that they might have run.

Wow just wow at that practice run. Love that video. Thanks for posting it. The preparation is the key and it shows and along with the way he was coaching them on the sidelines in the other video all through the game just why Bill Belichick is so damn good.

What I find especially impressive about this play is that in practice, Meriweather is the safety, and Chung is probably on the scout team. Yet in the game, Chung is in there and makes the play. Good for him.

Thanks for linking that video. One of the best videos in recent memory that I have seen in this category. Insightful and entertaining for Pat's fans.

That is an awesome segment. Thanks for posting. I'm glad BB is on OUR side.

Just great! Must watch.

(Anyone else notice Zolak asking BB whether, if the pass to Moss on third and short hadn't worked, he'd have gone for it on fourth down? On your own 28? Nice one, Scott!)

Gimme a break..He and Ernie Adams went over the probabilities..See?

lambda[1]:='lambda[1]':lambda[2]:='lambda[2]':lambda[3]:='lambda[3]': lambda:=n->(1+2*sqrt(19)*cos(phi(n)/3))/3;w:=(-26+3*I*sqrt(687))/(19*sqrt(19));abs(w);phi:=n->arccos(-26/(19*sqrt(19)))+n*2*Pi; for n from 1 by 1 to 3 do lambda[n]= evalf(lambda(n-1),20) od

Plus don't forget the tape of the other team's walkthrough
