I hadn't realized this, but the Patriots' leading regular-season rusher, in yards and TDs alike, was Jonas Gray. A total of 7 Patriot RBs got carries during the season, counting Develin but not QBs, WRs, etc. 5 different Patriots were in double digits for rushing first downs, and this time I am counting Brady.
Obviously, a lot of this is because of circumstances in the power-back role -- first Ridley had a season-ending injury, then a guy who's pretty decent on the Patriots got cut because he's a headcase everywhere else. Still, on the raw numbers it's a pretty extreme case of running back by committee.
By the way -- Luck and Flacco both had substantially more rushing first downs on the season than Brady. But Peyton Manning had 0, and his rushing stats were 24 rushes, -24 yards total. Can it be the case that a starting QB has literally 0 carries for the season other than kneeldowns??
