Just saw that Vince Redd was promoted from the practice squad. From a financial perspective, what does this mean for him? Practice Squad players as I understand it, usually have a much lower salary then those who are part of the 53.

What happens when these players are promoted? Do they sign a contract with new terms? Do they get more by being promoted to the 53 or are they still earning what they agreed to as PS players?

I am sure they get MORE money per game...of course....

Correct, they will either go back to their pre-PS contract or just sign a new one that will usually give them the minimum base salary for their accredited season level (which for Redd is 0, so $295,000/17*6=104,118).

Thanks for the responses. What does the "*6" signify?

Nice to see though that moving players from the PS to the 53 really does impact their finances. I'm guessing that being part of the PS, Redd might be getting about 100k per year so this one game check really gives him a boost.

The whole idea of promoting from within, appeals quite a bit to me. You get guys on your PS working hard every day on the chance that they could get in a game.
