Playoff bye week .. PRACTICE news

Bye week question but do you folks think that the Patriots will resign Brandon Bolden, I wonder if the Lions or Texans will try and give him a deal like the pats did before the 2015 season. Bolden was a partial contributor on offense the last few years but we all know the Pats like his special teams contributions. Personally I think that the pats would probably offer him a pretty cheap deal but I kind of think someone else will offer him more money.

Unrelated but considering who Brandon Bolden became as a player its still really funny to me that he rushed for 137 yards and won a player of the week awardin 2012. Thats more than 15% of his career rushing yards

Bolden will walk this year, as someone will pay him more than we will. The same goes for Logan and Harmon.

As for how to get all our WR's in, I think it will be Lengel who makes way. Develin can line up at tight end if need be, as can Fleming (for blocking). Despite how well he has done, I feel he is the odd man out when Dola and MM return.

He played several more snaps after that in that drive and another one in the next.
He'll shake it off when needed.

from todays practice
(no, this are not LaFell, Dobson and Harper)

Cannot Remember the Patriots having so many Good WR's in Teens. Always thought Teen numbers were kiss of death.

High end ST player who can be an emergency RB at either the "lead" or "receiving" role and who is cheap and a coaches favorite. Of course he will be back.

He's had more impact plays on ST the past few years than anyone else. It's laughable that people think he can easily be replaced by a UDFA

Bolden, Slater and Ebner are going to be here as long as Belichick is, unless their skills erode significantly. They're 3 of the top ST in the entire league, know their role, accept their role and are cheap. You don't get rid of those guys for random UDFA.

Stop looking at Bolden as a RB. His job is ST, and emergency fill in at RB. Just like Slater is a ST who is a run blocking WR in specific packages and Ebner is ST who is an emergency safety.

If the Pats had a random ST guy and not Bolden in 2014, they don't make it to the Super Bowl most likely given that they had a few games which turned on his plays (forced fumble, blocked punt, impact block on a PR TD). Guys who routinely make impact plays on ST are long term keepers. Guys who play ST decently but aren't impact players are fairly fungible (Grissom as a current example, Eric Alexander as a historical example) and can be shuffled as needed.

Replaced in 2017 by udfa st fellow

Harmon is going to go and be a good starter for someone, hes just too good to be a reserve. I think it would be funny if he went to Detroit and the safety pairing ended up being Tavon Wilson and Duron Harmon. I still think their is a slight chance that Logan Ryan will be back

Could they get Ryan on a Lavar Arrington type of deal in 2017 numbers. Arrington got paid well. Or is Ryan going to command #1 CB money?

I could see him getting an Arrington deal.

Ryan has amazing hand strength. Seen him pull down escaping wr's with one hand. He's smart but doesn't have top end speed.

Wonder what his value is.

What do you think? Is he a 11 million dollar corner? We will see how he does in the playoffs.

Brandon is one bad dude. He literally knocked two defenders out during the 2014 playoffs. BB emphasizes toughness. I don't think he is going anywhere

I absolutely value our ST specialists, who helped the Pats have the best field position advantage in the league this year.

But...IMO in addition to Slater and Ebner, Jonathan Jones is already significantly more valuable than Bolden on ST and Brandon King and Barkevious Mingo are his equals. 4 of those 5 are under contract (or RFAs) for 2017, which seems like a pretty tenuous position for Bolden.

The top speed really isn't the issue because most of the game he is put into plays where this doesn't get exposed. With how many former Patriots exec are around now in the league I wouldn't be surprised if the Titans or Lions offer him more money than we do. And then of course there are the other teams that might simply just offer something crazy..

Personally, my philosophy is that I don't assume any of our better depth players (Ryan, Harmon) to be retained because you can often reproduce a lot of their production with players on rookie deals.

I think you meant to say Kyle Arrington. Lavar was a LB for the Skins and Giants.

Kyle was an overpay. Ryan is better than Kyle.

I love our STers. Don't wanna jinx it : but there are never long kick returns vs NE.

BB loves the players that cost little, but add a lot. Maybe Slater makes more than your avg STer, but the amount of production per dollar is insane. Who has a better ST crew this year ? No one. The snapper is reliable, the punter is fantastic, and the gunners are terrific. Only Gost (who was money most of his career) has had a down year by his standards - and he's been more than fine the second half.

Kyle was an overpay. But when he was given the right job (covering a quick Colts receiver), he was gold.

In the Do Your Job video, BB is on record as saying while Kyle was good, when he got flustered he played with poor technique.

Kyle was the Pat Chung of CBs. Anything inside of 15-20 yards he was a demon. Once he got matched up on a player who was running deeper routes his play was erratic.

He did a GREAT job Hilton but he also had over the top help which is totally fine.
