I think it helps somewhat against some viruses, but it's mostly intended towards bacteria.

Higher % alcohol content makes it more effective.

Alcohol can kill it but ineffective against spread through the air (coughing, sneezing, etc.).

There are rumors that Nick Foles seems a bit scared according to sal palantonio. Not sure if this is true, it was mentioned on the eagles forum.

It's Sal Paolantonio so him saying it actually makes it less likely that it's true. I'd prefer he'd said that Foles looks locked in and ready to go.
