Re: Pats sign RB Chris Taylor, release Richardson, place Shun White on Reserve/Milita

I know Maroney is your binky DB(I respect that as we all have favorites) but I say in my humble opinion that Maroney is playing his way to the bench and yes I did watch and yes I do know a little bit (maybe not much). He is still dancing and it cannot be corrected it appears unfortunately.

He's not a binkie of mine. It just so happens that I look at the entire picture when he's running the ball and not just in a vacuum. If you watched the game, then you know that he wasn't dancing. Either that or your idea of dancing is having to make a cut because the linemen don't open a hole for you. And if that's the case, you must think that every runningback dances.. i

If you watch his moves he is trying to play like a 180lb Warrick Dunn scatback type but with a 223lb body. His style is just not working in this offense. He would be a better back for the Colts, Chargers or some team who might use the stretch. He does not have scatback quickness. I will say this again that I believe he does not have great vision or feel for the hole.

What holes are you referring to. On the 6 plays that he ran the ball this past week, there were only holes on 3 of them.. And he hit each of those holes just fine. Of the 3 he didn't, he still made 1 yard on one play and got back to the line of scrimmage on the others..

If Kevin Faulk had Maroneys size he would be a three down starter with 1,500 yards. He fills the hole the way a big back does and still runs away from people.
I am of the opinion that a trade of Maroney for picks could be a solution although I do not believe this Taylor kid is the answer to the depth chart.

This Taylor kid, you are referring to, is currently behind BJGE.. so, of course he's not the answer. As for trading Maroney, that would be throwing the baby out with the bath water.

Laurence Maroney - Official New England Patriots Biography

So, you're guaranteeing Maroney's future success based on a six-game span from two seasons ago, including a 156-yard performance vs. a 1-15 Miami club? In fact, take away that one game (14 carries), and his 4.5 ypc average for 2007 decreases to a shade under 4 (3.97). Laurence Maroney

Let me ask you this: what will you be looking for when Maroney runs the ball this week? The majestic way he holds his shoulders? How his glorious locks trail behind him? I assume you'll be watching for how quickly he finds and hits the hole.

But then, I don't know anything about football. Thanks for enlightening me.

Bleachers, I did a Maroney to Morris comparison that threw out the games about the garbage defenses.. Want to know what I found? That they were almost identical. But that Maroney still had over a 4 YPC .

BTW, nice of you to not bother answering the questions asked of you and trying to deflect them with extraneous things that just muddy the watter of the discussion..

Re: Pats sign RB Chris Taylor, release Richardson, place Shun White on Reserve/Milita

Look, I'm always willing to bow to people out here who know more than I do about the finer points of an incredibly complex game and who can tell the difference between "dancing" and "evading defensive penetration."

In the couple of clips I saw from the Eagles game, it looked like there were missed blocks and defenders in the backfield before they were supposed to be there and that Maroney was scrambling to make something happen and not "dancing;" but, I'll admit that I've never broken down game tape and I could be corrected.

Bottom line for me: Maroney's pre-injury stats were fine. Like a lot of people, I was hoping he would emerge as an every game, every down back. He hasn't become that, but count me among those who still think this guy could be a productive part (and maybe more) of a strong offense. I have a feeling that the Pats might live to regret a trade at this point. I will, though, grant his critics that this is a very important season for Maroney.

I guess you can put me in the same boat I don't dislike maroney. I just remember how he ran pre-injury. I really hope he can return to that or something close to that. He may have single handedly made corey dillon expendable with all the potential he exuded in his rookie campaign even as a spell RB.

Even a Maroney enthusiast can see he isn't the same back post injury as he once was. I think he could still be a legit starting top tier back. If our run blocking shapes up(did not look good in preseason game 1) and if he runs hard to the hole decisively like he used to do.

He can be a force and make our offense completely unstoppable. I am not in favor of trading him either for the record

I think Taylor is being tried out as fullback, not RB.
