New England Patriots executive Jim Hausmann retired this week - ESPN Boston

Jim Hausmann's behind-the-scenes, 19-year tenure with the New England Patriots, in which he served as chief financial officer and chief administrative officer, wasn't in the original playbook.

The idea was for him to relocate briefly from his hometown of St. Louis, learn the football business and then return home to work for an NFL expansion team. His connection was with James Orthwein, who in 1992 had purchased controlling interest of the Patriots from Victor Kiam.

Yet just as it can happen sometimes on the football field, things didn't unfold as planned. The results were better than he ever anticipated.

Interesting piece on one of the important, yet pretty much unknown guys who helped handle the day-to-day operations.

Re: Pats CFO retiring

That is like my dream job.

Re: Pats CFO retiring

Another great story about Mr Kraft. Instead of just automatically clearing house when he came in he saw he had a good person and kept him.

In the end, businesses are about people and good people find it easier to get other good people to work for them (of course, you have to be tough and smart and be able to recognize those people when you see them!)

Maybe this guy's the reason they've played like sh#t in their last two playoff games AT HOME!!!!!!
Just kidding, good luck, whoever this guy is...

So, how soon before Miguel has the job?

Miguel deserves and interview - he is the source of cap/financial info for most of us at the largest Patriots organized community. That has to stand for something!
