Pats at Jets Thanksgiving 2012 - First-timer looking to find tailgaters

I'm a Pats fan from the UK living in New York city. I've managed to convince the Fiancee that going to the Thanksgiving game at Met life on Thursday is a good idea. We don't know many people in the city so we're looking for any Pats fans who may welcome us for some pre-game fun

Do Pats fans ever manage to stake out a spot on road games? If not, what on earth do they do before the game?!
