There are ways around that.

Agents are at the combines representing their rookies. You talk to them about the draft but also about your "needs" and how you might willing to invest to fill it without talking about a player. Or just have guys you trust and you flat out state what you want. However it goes down players start hearing who might be interested.

Milton Williams is Meh if you ask me. I don't see the need in throwing a bag at him in a loaded DT class.

If he wasn't 25 I'd lean toward your point of view.

But he is, and only costs money, freeing up a pick we can use on another hole that needs to be filled.

The combine has become more than just the underwear Olympics. It has become so much about GM’s meeting with agents and other GM’s, this is when they find out if they can continue to pursue deals or not waste anymore time. Reports come out that some bars are open real late with team brass meeting other team brass or agents.

Who knows where this source got his information or if it’s accurate. But if they did want Milton’s agent to know they were interested, leaking their intentions to the press would get the ball rolling in 4 days when the legal tampering begins.

Vrabel is doing the right thing by surveying the league and waiting.. as we've seen lots of veterans have been realeased that can help up.. alot of these guys want starting roles and we can offer them that and $$$.. Bosa would be a nice piece on the edge. My hope is we can get chase young.

Frankly i am not so high on him. He has 11 sacks in 4 years. Yeah, he had a great super bowl, but that's one game and that OL was getting beat by everyone. I know we need help and I am all for paying top dollar for it. The one thing i don't want to see happen is spending a ton of money out of desperation and getting stuck with bad contracts so we can't extend for other players.

Like when we signed Hunter Henry and Junno Smith. Those contracts really were a part of the reason our offense has been subpar for years.
Milton Williams is a good DT. But he isn't a guy you spend 20M on. He's the guy you part with the guy you spend 20M on. Milton is worth 12/13M at most IMO. And i'd be happy to for them to pay that.
