I didn't even realize his rookie contract had already run out.

He was good in college and had a fine rookie season, it's too bad for him that it took a turn for the worse ever since then.

Anyways, as others have said it's simply due diligence; building a list of candidates to call on in case they happen to be needed later on in the year. I can't envision a scenario where the Pats are planning on him being on their week one roster.

I hope Ridley is O.K.

How is it more "WTF" than working out Clinton Portis? The Pats have worked out a bunch of veterans; isn't time to stop reading too much into it? Ridley is fine.

I am really worried about Ridley, he hasn't been at practice for a week and a half. We really need him to be fully healthy for the year, He's going to be a large part of the rb rotation. He's awesome in goal line situations and catching passes out of the backfield. I also believe during the first or second exhibition game, saw him make an awesome move while pass blocking, sliding over really quickly to give his man a good block. I hope he's alright.

the other day. I imagine that wearing PJs to work will make Bill furious. Ridley probably did it on purpose, because he hates the Patriots and is unhappy with his current contract.

I like Kevin Smith, did very good as a rookie and should be given another chance. Just needs more looks.
