Many of the Patriots stars were very low draft picks or undrafted: Brady, Edelman, Butler. Lewis seemed to be also fairly unwanted by most teams, but he is not quite a star.

Are there other teams, now or even in the past, that have relied to such an extent on almost "cast offs"? I think the idea is that:

(1) The players must be stars, not just contributors, to the team: starting QB, #1 receiver, #1 corner for instance;

(2) The players in some sense must have been completely overlooked by other teams: undrafted or 7th round picks for instance.

I'm curious statistically: how does the Patriots ability to use 7th round or lower draft picks compare to other teams'?

How about Tony Romo, Greg Hardy and La'el Collins for the Cowboys?

Patriots ability to draft good 7th round players is the polar opposite of the Patriots ability to draft good 2nd round players
