Patriots sign LB Thomas Williams to practice squad

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. — The New England Patriots signed LB Thomas Williams to the practice squad today. New England had an open position on their eight-man practice squad following the signing of CB Kyle Arrington from the practice squad to the 53-man roster over the weekend.

Williams, 6-1, 237 pounds, was originally a fifth-round draft pick by Jacksonville out of USC in 2008. He appeared in six games for the Jaguars as a rookie. Williams was waived by Jacksonville prior to the start of the regular season and spent time on the Seattle and Houston practice squads this season.

Might be an inside coverage guy in the Pats' system, but more likely a short-term PS guy. Upside would be Eric Alexander I'd guess.

this is a more extreme example.... but the less intell INDY gets about the PATS the more mysterious and efficient the PATS will become.

Arrington is still with the Patriots. He wasn't released. Williams is taking his old spot on the Practice Squad, that wasn't filled when Arrington was promoted to the 53.
