Not at all. I'm sure this was something between the two of them. If you attend parties, you know how awkward it is to cut off from one person and move on to all the others you need to speak with. I think Bennett felt he needed to get to the players right away--to confirm their play.

It was a little awkward.

It's nothing compared to that office scene of Kraft talking to Belichick in A Football Life though. That is the most cringe worthy 30 seconds ever. If that's any indication of the interactions between those two over the years, a little awkwardness with Bennett will seem nonexistent in comparison.
