They call him "AC" because he's so cooooool.

Too cool for my blood. Certainly smart.

He has some serious toughening up to do if he wants to make the PS even..
If he can - there's Dola 2018.
If not - show business..

Cyrus gets my binkie “sophomore“ vote.
Hope he can win the men(tal) battle. The body is ready to follow.

Slot is up for grabs.

After bashing himself post SBLI talking not (deserving) being part of the team - he published some better thoughts before turning off social media noise:

After never getting his feet underneath him as a rookie, Cyrus Jones posted to Instagram -- and apparently deleted all older posts -- on Sunday night, indicating that he was looking forward to getting a fresh start next season.

"Reflecting back on my rookie season, this was by far one of the most challenging times in my life," he wrote. "I experienced a lot of pain, disappointment, embarrassment and overall dissatisfaction with myself. But through this time, I learned many lessons that as a man I can say I truly needed to learn..'Failure is another opportunity to begin again more intelligently' and the things I went through this year made me better and wiser.

"Regardless, I was blessed to be apart of something far greater than myself! I experienced the ultimate measure of success in this game we play...and did it with an even greater group of men and I'll never take that for granted. I was quickly reminded how much love and respect I have for this sport and also how much it means to so many people. So with that being said#patsnation , in 2017, 24 will be back and ready to work for the best fans in football! #revenge #godstimingnotmine#seeyallinyear2"

I miss the days when rookies and even second year guys were allowed to struggle without fan panic attacks.

He was great at it in college and has become a head case doing it in the NFL. How could that not be concerning? I fail to see how he was having a panic attack over legit concerns.

A good case in point. He was a rookie and people are ****ting on him like he's Hayneworth or Ochocinco, Jesus.

Some great OTA nuggets from Reiss here:
Andrew Hawkins had inside info on Patriots from his older brother

quotes:

Jonathan Jones, the 2016 undrafted free agent from Auburn who made a significant impact on special teams as a rookie, received the majority of work with Gilmore and Butler. There's a long way to go, and it bears repeating to be careful reading too much into what we see at OTAs, but I was struck by the one-day snapshot of how Jones seemed to be ahead of 2016 top pick Cyrus Jones

The free-agent signings of running backs Mike Gillislee and Rex Burkhead have sparked thoughts by some on how it might affect Dion Lewis' standing with the Patriots. Albeit not in full pads, Lewis' quickness and explosiveness still stood out on the practice field Thursday, as I only saw Gillislee among the running backs hit the line of scrimmage with close to the same noticeable burst. It had me thinking that Lewis' skill set still has value to the club and he could fall into a Danny Amendola-type classification as a player who is carefully managed. Gone are the days when he plays 73 snaps (Sept. 20, 2015 at Buffalo), but as a kickoff returner and reserve running back playing 15-20 snaps per game in hopes of preserving his health, I still see a spot for him on the club.

Chase Farris (Ohio State) and Jamil Douglas (Arizona State) could potentially be important pieces to the team's offensive line as the next layer of depth behind starting guards Joe Thuney and Shaq Mason. With second-year interior lineman Ted Karras as the top backup center/guard, he took snaps behind starting center David Andrews on Thursday, which meant Farris and Douglas flanked him during practice. Both Farris and Douglas spent last season on the Patriots practice squad, and their development will be an under-the-radar training camp storyline to monitor because barring any other signings, they are one injury away from potentially being on the 46-man game-day roster.

Meanwhile, the Patriots are expected to take a closer look at some specialists in the coming weeks, so they are prepared in the event anything happened to Cardona, punter/holder Ryan Allen or kicker Stephen Gostkowski.

I agree with your overall point that fans have become more critical of rookies but Cyrus Jones wasn't just a rookie having growing pains last year, he was an epic fail. I think that's what people are reacting to and rightfully so IMO.

Google Troy Brown's rookie season as PR.

This is from June 1st OTA (not to waste a thread)

Interesting nugget from Reiss:

It is rare to see Brady appear to make a mistake with a read that results in him throwing an interception. It happened in Super Bowl LI, and the Patriots’ own defense was buzzing on Thursday when it happened again at the team’s voluntary organized team activity. With two defenders dropping into the flats, and linebacker Shea McClellin “jamming” a running back to disrupt timing, McClellin showed his reliable hands when Brady attempted to dump the ball off to D.J. Foster but wasn’t expecting McClellin to be there. Ever the competitor, Brady probably lost some sleep over that one in recent days.

Brady just does that, occasionally, to keep them motivated and pushing for more.

that Brady sure is a selfless guy and the whole ultimate leader means he has to keep his teammates, even the defense, on that edge.

:D
