Patriots - Chiefs Key Matchups
By: Steve Balestrieri

This week the Patriots should be able to assert their will on offense. The Chiefs have struggled to stop the run, so with the Patriots being able to run effectively with Green-Ellis and Woodhead, it will open play action with Brady being able to find play...

About the Chiefs

Hoping to generate some discussion here about a game and opponent everyone appears to be taking for granted. It does seem that the only things the Chiefs have going for them at the moment are a good defensive backfield and Hali, who has six of their nine sacks. We can only hope that Palko lives up to his billing and that Bowe and Jackie Battle don't suddenly flash star power against our still-undermanned defense.

I think the Chiefs will play hard. Kansas City is desperate and can still make a push in its own division. So even though the Pats are heavy favorites, the outcome might be in doubt longer than many of us expect.

Re: About the Chiefs

Any defense with Tamba Hali, Eric Berry and Brandon Flowers provides a challenge.

Berry is out for the season

Plus the fact that Romeo is coordinating them. Also, any defense with the holes we have provides a potential opportunity. I just hope this game doesn't get mired in a struggle going into the fourth quarter. I'd like to enjoy and relax for a change, and see some of our nicked-up guys get some rest.

How about without Eric Berry?

He tore his ACL back around the beginning of the season.

Can't sleep on this game. Our ex-coordinators often give us trouble, as do new QB's.

Re: About the Chiefs

I want to see how Moore does in his 2nd start.

I feel this game will pad Gronkowski/Carter's stats.

Remember Flynn against us last year for Green Bay. That was frustrating to watch.

Fixed it for you. JT O'Sullivan, Seneca Wallace, AJ Feeley, Kyle Boller, and Kyle Orton instantly come to mind.

I don't take the Chiefs for granted. If we do, we're going to go home with an L.

Re: About the Chiefs

The Chiefs average less than 16 points per game and lost their QB. Tyler Palco is starting his first game on Monday Night Football at New England. Big stage.

It's hard to see the Chiefs scoring many points or building up time of possession. The first half will probably be a grind, but once the Chiefs' defense wears down a little, it should become a blowout.

Matt Flynn from the Packers would take exception to this statement. He was in the same shoes last year, and ended up lighting up the Pats D. The Pats D always has a hard time against quarterbacks they have never seen before.

They're without their starting QB, HB, and TE. All they have left are their starting WRs and OL. Shutout or bust.

The Pack had a much, much better offense than the Chefs have, but point taken. This defense is getting pressure with 3 and 4, which we haven't been able to say forever. That will be the key to our success monday and the rest of the season.

Re: About the Chiefs

The Patriots are now in a position to grab the AFCE and not give it up. But they are not good enough to win games without being focused on their jobs and intense.

The Chiefs can win if the Patriots come out flat. The Patriots need to show, for their own good, that they can play at the same level, week after week, as they did against the Jets.
