Yup, that's #1 on my list just ahead of some people on this board feeling they know more about offense and play calling than BB and Brady and any OC they trust to run this offense.

:agree: :eat3:

But what the hell do I know? I am just a descendent of a Nazi sympathizing Dictator.

I know. I would much rather have a team like Indy where they have no defense.

Or maybe a team that spends money to bring in great players like Washington.

Or maybe a team like Philly that has no running game.

Or maybe a team that has great WRs like Dallas, cause if you have WRs that guarantees victories. Why else do you think Detroit has been taking them for these past few years?

Or maybe a team like Baltimore that has a recent #1 WR, another very good one that NE wanted and a former rushing champ as well as MVP QB. That offense must be good.

Or we could cheer for a team like Denver that is willing to pay money for their WRs unlike NE who was too cheap to pay Walker his money. With their running game, that has the makings of a dominant offense.

OR we could just get on the bandwagon with all the people who said that Miami would take advantage of NE's arrogance and propel themselves to an AFCE crown. That is coming any day now, so we might as well sell high and buy low.

Give me a break.

Well said my man. These we gotta have Moss boneheads are scary.

POTM!! POTM!!!

I'm sick of all the "arrogance" talk. This is what happens when you let too many former players into sports media -- the entire tone of the reporting changes, and you end up with even the real journalists parroting the short-sighted, narrow-minded, and small-picture points of view of the idiot ex-jocks shouting on ESPN.

It's fundamentally ******ed to make the assumption that if a head coach/gm chooses not to bring somebody back, he thinks his team can win without them.

I'm sure when BB decided to trade Branch, he knew it was going to make things much harder for 2006. But BB has to think beyond 2006 when making personnell decisions. BB's position is that if you start paying players more than they're worth to retain them now, you eventually put yourself in a position where you're unable to retain a more valuable player willing to play for less later.

Belichick is not an idiot. He knows that losing a bunch of players this offseason makes it harder for the Pats to win now. But he also knew that the new CBA was throwing the market out of whack, and that the contracts being handed out in 2006 were not good values.

His decisions this year have nothing to do with a notion that his "system" can win with lesser players -- it has everything to do with his unwillingness to hamstring the organization in the near future just to keep a couple guys this year.

Jacky Roberts is a troll who masquerades as a Pats fan here. Just don't reply to his threads.

Bingo...We got Bingo! Great post!

What is with this bye week? There have been more negative whiney posts than I can ever remember during a successful start to a season. And here we are having success in a season where most teams would cave. You'd never know it from the tone of many on this board.

Insanity!

Great replies throughout the thread (Oswlek, Mcgolby, Molewisrocks, Pat_Nasty) too, fun read even though the originating post was garbage.

We've won 3 of the last 5 Super Bowls.

What is your argument? I'm confused.
don't say "we", becuase you have not won squat. And I can't stand 3 of the last 5...what happens next year if they don't win...3 of last 6? 3 of last 7? it was 3 in four years bottom line.

The pats are spending money....i.e. Koppen. I'm sure there is more to come. It's obvious they are going to use the two #1's to get some quality players and maybe they will go into free agency if they see someone thye want. i don't think they'll spend just to spend.

They're being wise, not arrogant. When you think you can outspend everyone, that's arrogant.

where do you get all of those little signs you use each week?

I call 'fan on fan' arrogance here!!

We're all part of the New England Patriots. We're the 12th man. We're absolutely vital to the franchise. They wouldn't trade us for 15 1st round picks! We can say 'we' if we want to, we buy the right through advertising dollars, Jersey sales, Game tickets, etc etc etc.

I cheer when the Pats are happy, I cry when they cry (Denver last season).

'We' are all Patriots.

Lighten up!

It's the internet - ask and you shall receive.:singing:

Forgive me if I'm wrong Jacky but it seems to me that they are winning with anyone if they are sitting at a 4-1 record. I trust Belichick and Pioli more than you on this issue. It seems that you are just one of the broken records we've been hearing all offseason. And finally pundits are starting to shut up about the Patriots and dont seem to be able to say anything very negative about them.

Didn't we just have this conversation? Without the fans spending money on tickets, merchandise, food, parking, Sunday Ticket and the products advertised on Sunday there would not be an NFL. A person who spends money (sometimes in the thousand(s) range) to support and watch their favorite team has every right to say "we" or "us", when referring to that team. Please tell us why you believe differently.

It will only go back to being 3 out of 4 if they don't win another superbowl during this window of opportunity which should be at least another 5-6 years as long as BB sticks around. It could be longer if BB stays past that and Brady can play at a high level into his mid to late 30's like Elway did.

I"m very happy about the 3 SB's, but I want more. This year's Patriot team has, IMHO, no shot at one this year. Given the opportunity to improve this roster, they stood pat and did nothing.

I remember feeling the same way when the Sox did nothing at the trade deadline (I realize these are two very different sports regarding midseason trades). My point is I'm afraid they've gotten drunk on their own potion regarding winning with "B" players. Just like my financial adviser tells me, "You can't gauge future success by past results".

I'm afraid we are wasting Brady's prime by not giving him the weapons he needs because of reluctancy to trade draft picks or pay people $$.

Don't get me wrong, I trust Belichick and Pioli. My point is by trading Branch for pick and refusing to bring in someone in (not necessarily Moss), to me they are almost asking Brady to do the impossible: Win a NFL title with CFL talent on offense. Does anyone really feel this team as constituted can win a Super Bowl? I certainly don't.

I hope they go 15-1 and prove me wrong, but except for that Cincy game, this team has been outplayed in long stretches in their games. Am I spoiled? Sure. Do I want another title? Yes. Do I think its going to happen this year? Sadly, no.

4-1 Jacky, 4-1. Recievers arent as important as Running Backs. Much less important. Brady has 8 TDs and 3 INT's, not half bad and the running game for most of the games has been outstanding. The defense has played well. Your listening to pundits. This is old talk before the Bengals game. Complaints about the WR's, well no we dont have much receptions by WR's but they havent played badly. Get over it, Jacky. Enjoy that we are winning unless you are a troll.

Whooooa now, Jacky. I hope you didnt label the WR's as CFL players. They certainly arent world beaters but they certainly arent near being CFL players who are just crappy players who couldnt make it to the NFL. I think this is trust in Brady as the best QB in the league. Listen the whole team needs to be solid which it is and is definitley a possible canidate for the SB. The WR's arent the best you'll find, they are all average-decent players. But if one QB can still get alone pretty well with such recievers that he hasnt even gotten to know completely on the field yet, I'm sure its Brady because I dont even see Peyton Manning playing half as well as Brady if he had this recieving corps. So give it a break. Brady is doing fine and will get better and better with his recievers as the season goes on. We arent looking at the past games Jacky, this team seems to be bouncing back when we destroyed the Bengals. Everyone is playing better. The Bills, Jets and Broncos games are history, give this team a freaking break. They are one of the top 5 teams in the league.
