Yea but the thing about UDFA is that they pretty much get to pick where they want to go. Lets say Pats, colts, and jets want him. He went to BC probably grew up in NE, I think he chooses Pats there

They also can size up the various teams needs, and see if their is an opening for their talents, too...

Pats seemed to want a 2nd round pick + something for #33 but didn't get it. So they took Dowling.

I saw them listening to an offer, not necessarily pursuing it. If someone calls, and it is a decent offer, you always listen, no matter how wonderful the next player up on your board is.
